    The U.S. doesn't really have the ability to pivot on oil over the short term.   The bulk of the refineries refine heavy oil, not light oil, so they can't refine the oil America extracts.   If we put an export tax on it as a tactic, I'm not sure what the impact on demand would be.  Alberta might be ok for a short period of time?  Over a longer period of time maybe companies in the US would modify their existing refineries or build new ones?

    Which seems like a complete waste.   We get to the buy the discount heavy oil from Canada and make cheaper gas from it, which in turn less us sell our nice lighter oil for higher prices to outside of the US.  So we're going to redirect that to our domestic product and jack up the price of gas? lol.

    Worthington Steel announced it will close its Cleveland-area plant it operated with Canadian metals distributor Samuel, Son & Company as the Trump administration's tariffs on steel and metal imports loom in the economy.

    The company said the Worthington Samuel Coil Processing plant at 4600 Heidtman Parkway in Cleveland will be consolidated with other operations in Twinsburg, Ohio by the end of May. This could affect as many as 55 positions, according to a filing written by Vice President of Operations Brad Kern to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

    Kern wrote that these affected employees are not represented by a union.

    The company said in a statement Thursday it was a difficult decision that was made after a lengthy analysis of the company.

    The jobs impacted include material handlers, production set-up leads, operators and several other positions.

    The statement said all affected employees will have the opportunity to apply for other jobs within Worthington Steel. Those who choose not to continue with the company will receive severance and help finding other work.

    For CLARIFICATION of Trump’s rant about a 235% tariff on US dairy.

    The tariff is a quota mechanism, meaning in order for the 235% to kick in, the US must export 13 million gallons of milk, 27.5 million lbs of cheese & 11 million lbs of butter into Canada. They never have, so pay 0% tariff.

    Canada also banned the use of recombinant bovine somatotropin (rBST), a hormone used in U.S. dairy production to increase milk yield, due to health concerns.

    Nobody should be surprised by this.  Trump is a man of integrity.  When he sets out to reverse the Biden administration actions, he is consistent.  He doesn't care what it is.  If the Dow increased in Biden's term, he's going to decrease it right back.  This is what people do when they keep their word.   I know very surprising.
