the verb "to trust ..."

"... and never let you down"

Wishlist always starts out so happy, and this line feels like a punch in the gut. It's so heartbreaking that someone would feel like they let down the person they care for so deeply.

P.S.- Pearl Jam is the shit!

I've always felt like wishlist is a sad song. The whole song is about wishing you were someone or something else. I mean its like he wants to be something positive which conversely means he doesnt feel that he is. Even the end of the song, "I guess it never stops". I dunno...its a sad song but its awesome.

i like to look at wishlist as a sort of happy tune. uplifting in a way i guess..thats what i get from all of yield. i feel that yield is an album that overall just makes you feel good about yourself. that's why i love it. i see wishlist as, yes your wishing you can be this and that and this...but in a poetic way..not depressing or extremely overjoyed. just content. and the line 'i guess it never stops' to me, is like, hey, everyone wishes they were this and that, but just be happy with who you are..because who you are is perfect...just take those wishes and make something great out of them..like a song..everyone can right their own 'wishlist' and make it content and peaceful in their own ways..

i guess the song is about yearning......but.......i've always looked at it as positive........wishes or dreaming can be positive thing.......and i love the studio version's ending as the volume lowers "i wish i was a radio song the one you couldn't turn up"........:)

Same here. always thought of it as a sad song, not just for the last part, but the whole lyrics..

i wish i was an alien, at home behind the sun...
  • My favourite line is "I wish I was the full moon shining off a camaro's hood". There's something so visceral and serene about that image...gives me shivers, but at the same time makes me feel so calm...mmmmm...

I wish I was a songwriter, who wrote such beautiful words...

just out of curiosity, how can something be serene and visceral at the same time? ;)

"i wish i was a neutron bomb for once i could go off"

i wish i could go off on all the dang muslim extreamists who keep killing people. because of that we keep sending more troops over to iraq. dont get me wrong. im all for the war in iraq but those extreamists are the reason we keep sending more troops to iraq.

Does anyone else think that WISHLIST is a love song about living up to the expectations that you have of yourself with regard to your partner? Expectations that you know you can never live up to.

Its beautiful and wistful and creates such a romantic moment. The "verb to trust" line perfectly describes that feeling of being so in love that you wish you could maybe be something more than just a human being with human failings for the sake of the one you love.

Any song/poem that has a list I take with a grain of salt. I'll look at it again, soon, but a list is a cop-out. It's a see-saw song, a pop-song to be sang and it doesn't matter what is said. I'll look at it again, more closely, to see if I find a new theme.

hah no, I wasn't trying to point out any stupidity or be arsey or anything, Im sure that the two could possibly work together its just that generally they are contradictory.

i pretty much agree. i think its a happy/positive song. i think its sorta like a personal challenge for one's self to try/want to be the very best person they can for someone they love.....either a friend or lover.
