Original post updated for charts for week ending January 25, 2025.

"Waiting for Stevie" moves up from No. 11 to a new peak of No. 8 in its twentieth week on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart. The song also holds at No. 13 in its seventeenth week on the Rock & Alternative Airplay chart, after previously peaking at No. 12, and holds at No. 20 on the Hot Hard Rock Songs chart, after previously peaking at No. 11 on that chart when the RSD-exclusive single was released.

The song's ascent on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart pretty much defines the phrase "slow and steady." Despite never having moved up more than four spots in any given week, it has managed to climb from No. 33 to No. 8 on the 40-position chart over a span of 20 weeks. Its chart run, as spelled out in the original post, has been 33-31-27-23-22-22-21-17-16-16-15-16-13-13-13-12-12-12-11-8.

Now before we congratulate the rock audience on its good taste, here's a cautionary note: Scott Stapp's "Black Butterfly" is No. 5 on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart.
Yea I was going to say about Stapp. Rock audiences want the same thing.

It'll be great if they performed on the Grammys. Unfortunately that won't happen. Will have to watch the pre-show ceremony to see if they win any of awards they're up for.

Why would the band who said the Grammy’s didn’t mean anything during their broadcast want to perform there? Why would the Grammy’s invite them?

Because people change. They didn't want to make music videos again until they did. And why wouldn't the Grammys want a legendary rock act? Especially a first time performer instead of the usual

Agreed! The band has softened up over the years, making video's, giving interviews etc. and has accepted their Rock Hall Of Fame award as well as playing at the ceremony so totally would think they could show up for the Grammy's. Fingers crossed!

Best Rock Performance, Rock Song, and Rock Album. Those are usually relegated to the ceremony before the show.

You're missing the joke. (Admittedly, it's not a great joke.)

    Now let's eat Grammy.

That's an especially good reference since this punctuation error is known as the "grocer's apostrophe."

Not sure why they still do this while ear bleeding music are made public for prime time TV.

They highlight the acts in prime time that attract the biggest audience, while also trying to give some time to each of the biggest genres. What makes your ears bleed is subjective. The Grammys have featured some pretty incredible performances over the past ten or fifteen years since they deemphasized the awards in favor of performances on the live show.

Original post updated for charts for week ending February 1, 2025.

"Waiting for Stevie" falls from its No. 8 peak to No. 12 in its twenty-first week on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart. The song also falls from No. 13 to No. 17 in its eighteenth week on the Rock & Alternative Airplay chart, after previously peaking at No. 12. It also slips from No. 20 to No. 21 on the Hot Hard Rock Songs chart, after previously peaking at No. 11 on that chart when the RSD-exclusive single was released.

The number of spins the song is receiving nationally has begun to decline, so it's likely that the song will not achieve new peaks.

Heard Waiting for Stevie for the firs time on the radio this morning going into work.  Radio edit version is lame but was cool to hear.

Time for "Won't Tell" as the next single. I feel that it has crossover appeal. Someone tell management to reach out to me to discuss a strategy. ;)

I think "Got to Give" has the broadest appeal of the songs that have not yet been "released."

"Waiting for Stevie" rebounds from No. 12 to No. 11 in its twenty-second week on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart. (It peaked two weeks ago at No. 8.) The song also tumbles from No. 17 to No. 28 in its nineteenth week on the Rock & Alternative Airplay chart, after previously peaking at No. 12. It also falls off the 25-position Hot Hard Rock Songs chart after previously peaking at No. 11 on that chart when the RSD-exclusive single was released.
