We all like “our schools” but some about paying millions to live vicariously is sad. The original NIL was Ed O’Bannon suing for the use of his image in a video game, right? It’s not NIL anymore; it’s straight cash homey.

    Agree 1000%.

    Disagree 100%.

    It’s ridiculously uneven. Deion’s kid $6M?
    How is that disagreeing 100%?
Sounds like you are good with them getting paid (unsure how anyone can be against that given what whoring them out for years earned the NCAA) but would like to see the system even out some.
To say they weren’t paid is a misnomer.  If you’re gonna pay them a millions dollars let’s take their scholarships away.  It’s not like education is even a priority anymore.
The cost of 4 years of school vs what the universities were making is not anything I consider true payment.
Full disclosure, I hate the NCAA with a burning passion.  They fucking suck, so I am not an unbiased party in this discussion.
Another misnomer.  Very few athletic departments make money (google says only 28 in 2021 in D1)  Football and some basketball are funding every other sport at these universities.  The scam of NIL is that it’s not the schools paying the players but alumni fans and donors.  So right now paying players is only hurting the schools from those funds now funding NIL are not going to  the University directly.  Frankly the current NIL system for most of these schools is not sustainable.  Once the rules change and schools are forced to use their own funds you will also start seeing schools dropping sports.  I think long term if schools are forced to pay players the amount of division 1 opportunities will decrease.
You share some good points, and i agree wirh many, but I think you may be short selling athletes on the football and basketball teams that are making the universities such a tremendous amount of money.

The fact is that, on the whole, football players at D1 schools make the schools a tremendous profit.
They deserve more than what the average player is getting through NIL, imo.

I can't solve the NCAA's many issues, but I don't feel the need to do so in order to point out how I feel about football players deserving to be well compensated for the way they destroy their bodies for the entertainment of millions of fans.

It’s not a profit.  Only 28 schools athletic departments made a profit.  The only way to profit is to not fund any of the other sports. That’s not possible under Title IX.  It’s a lot more complicated an issue than just the players deserve money.

And I do think people don’t always know or take into account the large number of advantages these football and basketball players get even over other sports athletes.

How many NFL prospects have actually been do injured in college that they never “got their shot”? I’m sure there’s some but I can’t think of any.

Well the Jets finally saw what it is like to have an NFL caliber QB run their team in the 4th quarter. Wasted the full season letting him languish on the bench while the 41 year old GM tried his hand at it instead.
    This weekend we rock Portland

As Wroggers is also the de facto GM, he'll be a Jet again next season. Enjoy that.

The Jets were on the right track.  They had a lot of young top-end looking players on rookie deals and more assets.  I think Saleh also inspires players to work hard which is a good and important trait.

The Rodgers thing completely destroyed that whole thing.  What a disaster.

First, there are zero things enjoyable about being a jets fan. It's who we are, and we are not going to bandwagon to the out of town teams like all the cowboy and Steeler fans in the world.

Rodgers and the jets are bad enough without an absurd comparison to two garbage time forty point deficit team touchdowns.

The jets lose decade after decade because they consistently make mistakes when the game is competitive. It's who they are and will always be until the Johnsons are out of there. Taylor proved nothing. Put him in as the starter before elimination and he will lose just like Sam, Aaron and Geno did.
