A country that values (or at least aspires to) itself as having the highest ideals, should not be putting people to death. However heinous these crimes were, we shouldn't abide by vengeance. I agree with you that is a horrific crime, but although you're getting a lot of responses on this topic, I'm not sure that anyone is bringing up the specific issue why President Biden halted executions.
That's because within the last number of years, we have lost the ability to humanely execute people. The drugs that formerly enabled governments to humanely execute convicts became unavailable a number of years ago.
Although we want to punish criminals we need to do it in a Humane manner, if we are to believe the religions that most of us follow. And the constitution.
There is no negotiation on that, and it's always stunning how the evangelicals forget basic religion when they support republicans. The following is from AP News, from the time the Biden Administration suspended capital punishment for the above reasons

I agree with you that is a horrific crime, but although you're getting a lot of responses on this topic, I'm not sure that anyone is bringing up the specific issue why President Biden halted executions.
That's because within the last number of years, we have lost the ability to humanely execute people. The drugs that formerly enabled governments to humanely execute convicts became unavailable a number of years ago.
Although we want to punish criminals we need to do it in a Humane manner, if we are to believe the religions that most of us follow. And the constitution.
There is no negotiation on that, and it's always stunning how the evangelicals forget basic religion when they support republicans. The following is from AP News, from the time the Biden Administration suspended capital punishment for the above reasons
