Trump eyes privatizing U.S. Postal Service, citing financial losses Today at 7:00 a.m. ET By Jacob Bogage, Jacqueline Alemany and Jeff Stein President-elect Donald Trump has expressed a keen interest in privatizing the U.S. Postal Service in recent weeks, three people with knowledge of the matter said, a move that could shake up consumer shipping and business supply chains and push hundreds of thousands of federal workers out of the government. Trump has discussed his desire to overhaul the Postal Service at his Mar-a-Lago estate with Howard Lutnick, his pick for commerce secretary and the co-chair of his presidential transition, the people said. Earlier this month, Trump also convened a group of transition officials to ask for their views on privatizing the agency, one of the people said. Told of the mail agency’s annual financial losses, Trump said the government should not subsidize the organization, the people said. The people spoke on the condition of anonymity to reflect private conversations. Trump’s specific plans for overhauling the Postal Service were not immediately clear. But he feuded with the nation’s mail carrier as president in 2019, trying to force it to hand over key functions — including rate-setting, personnel decisions, labor relations and managing relationships with its largest clients — to the Treasury Department.

Yet more proof that his only aim is to tear down. Not rebuild, not improve, just tear down. You can't "overhaul" anything on a golf course. A raging adult infant whose whole life is just one long tantrum.

Here's my latest idea for lowering shipping cost through USPS:
Phone calls from most phones to pretty much everywhere in the world all
cost the same (at least on that phone). So what USPS needs to do is
this:
At a flat rate, for media mail and bulk rates, set up a scanning device
in the post post office. Scan the item being sent and have a computer
put it into code and send the code via satellite to where the person
receiving the code feeds it into a 3D printer and... voila, there you
go.
Original items could be shipped at flat-rate Priority Rate by using a
more complex process (thus the higher price), using lasers to break down
the item itself down to the atomic level. Next, broadcast the atoms on
light beams using a special satellite dish and receiver to send and
capture the atom, and run them through a processor that reconfigures
them to the original item (something like that "beam me up Scotty"
thing). Shipping pets or livestock this way is not advised.
