It was an odd situation for sure. I love Biden but he should have stepped aside a year ago and let the process truly play out.
Nothing against Harris. I think she's capable but the dems really needed a true primary without Biden.
Maybe it wouldn't have made a difference. Who knows. But very odd to lose an election when the economy is as strong as it is.
Regardless...the people have spoken and this is what they want.Remember the Thomas Nine !! (10/02/2018)

Maybe it wouldn't have made a difference. Who knows. But very odd to lose an election when the economy is as strong as it is.
Regardless...the people have spoken and this is what they want.
I don't think anyone could have garnered enough support and excitement to turn out the vote to defeat this Trump wave. I think Walz turned out to be a terrible pick, but again, I don't think it would have mattered.
That kind of brings me peace in this. This wasn't Trump taking the world off guard and snaking enough electoral votes from Hillary. This was a mandate from a majority of the country. This is what the majority of voters want. There are a lot of turds who voted for trump, but there are also a lot of non-crazy people I respect, work for, am friends with, and some family elders.
In 2016, they should have leaned into somebody with ideals who spoke to the people, and had a movement like Sanders or Yang. At worst, allowed Biden to continue the successful Obama administration. Instead, it was "Hillary's turn" and they breathed life into Trump's political career.
At the point of 2024, there was no winning. A primary would have exposed warts of the candidate sooner and also likely fractured the party again (they needed FULL, excited turnout). Biden couldn't win again. Harris probably did as well as they could have hoped.
The Democrats do need to soul-search and figure out how to speak to middle-america again. They have lost them. Identity politics have hit their ceiling and it is not high enough.
Do everyone a favor and don't freak out on forums or otherwise. Trumpers are frantically searching for it and basking right now. Have some dignity and don't give them that. Van Jones can also fuck off with his meme-generating melodrama.
If you are freaking out and depressed, just take a deep breath and understand you are powerless in these events, and have been powerless. Take each day in the next 4 years and try to better yourself. Things you can control. A workout and health routine, savings and spending habits, getting more out of each day. Maybe get involved in local politics or community groups.0 -

Identifying with a Nazi like party and candidate is totally fine though , right? It’s ’Murica where the majority rules, right? So keep on promoting and normalizing fascism and see where that takes you. You might want to speak with a 85-90+ year old resident of Israel for some thoughts on that, eh?Ledbetterman10 said:

Do everyone a favor and don't freak out on forums or otherwise. Trumpers are frantically searching for it and basking right now. Have some dignity and don't give them that. Van Jones can also fuck off with his meme-generating melodrama.
If you are freaking out and depressed, just take a deep breath and understand you are powerless in these events, and have been powerless. Take each day in the next 4 years and try to better yourself. Things you can control. A workout and health routine, savings and spending habits, getting more out of each day. Maybe get involved in local politics or community groups.Remember the Thomas Nine !! Bingo, and they’re lured by the promise of lower prices, lower taxes. Let’s see how that plays out and who he blames when the tariffs don’t reduce prices like he’s promised. Inflation was dropping and the economy is in great shape, perfect place for him to fuck it up.Gern Blansten said:
good take...you're right about middle-america. Unfortunately I think the majority is too ignorant for their own good. Nothing against Harris. I think she's capable but the dems really needed a true primary without Biden.
Maybe it wouldn't have made a difference. Who knows. But very odd to lose an election when the economy is as strong as it is.
