Interesting... some people think the Ames Dr. J won't sell out?????
It will sell out, because as you've said it sold out pretty quickly at the venue.  But admit that there are way more printed of some than there are of others - and that's one important reason, aside from popularity or selection availability, why some sell out faster than others.

Resale value dictates what sits and what sells out. Same as anything else. Im a big sneakerhead and resale value dictates peoples opinions on a pair. Same with these posters. If there’s money to be made, it’ll sell out. Simple. Let’s not act like the biggest flippers arent 10c members.
  • You can stop flipping by just simply printing more posters. They’re just prints on pieces of paper. They could be printing Cracker Jacks til the cows come home as long as people want them - and they should.

Agreed. I don’t buy for resale value. I buy because I love the image and want to hang it on my wall.

I got this one at the show and it's hanging on my wall with the baseball playing skeleton. I really love the Saturday Evening Post vibe and the detail in it is pretty amazing.

True, because no one is buying posters to put on a wall.
Some people have a really weird mindset. I bought Calgary13, Quebec, Toronto 2022 and Vancouver 24 because I wanted to see them on my walls.

Speaking of, I'll happily take a hockey mask cowboy off of you (anyone) for a reasonable 80 bucks (because it's a printed paper). 😋

Anything I’ve posted here was just disagreeing with your statement that it wouldn’t sell out because too many were printed.   As well as you posting multiple times that Ames Bros themselves are overprinting the posters.  That’s just not how these posters work.

That was based on something I swear Klausen mentioned last year in a thread.  I can't find it now so I must have made it up.

I buy to hang. Smell and store. Rotate prints on the wall often. Imo there is an allure to a poster that's hard to get. Part of the excitement. Glad these are easier to get for most. Does dull the poster thrill to me. Maybe I should stick to roller coasters and salt to spike my blood pressure!

How many Boston posters were there?
by the time i F5ed and carted, then checked- there were data-quantity="261 in the site. I'd estimate they started with +300ish
🤔 That's interesting, because there's still >400 of the Seattle Ames bros up. I'm starting to think they don't print all of these in the same quantities.
Correct. Each show has its own criteria for total number of posters. While I'm not an expert on the subject, I've asked around for any hints on on the matter. MrTsurt "Chris" isn't talking, Inhouse (the printing company) isn't talking and the artists have all signed an NDA (Non-disclosure agreement) but there are hints. Most PJ AP's are an edition of 100. Ames and Klausen are the only exception. These two regularly sell editions above 100, sometimes 200. Ames are the ONLY ones printing their own PJ posters, all others are from InHouse in chino CA.

    Ian Williams @ianwilliamsart

So to answer your question, it depends. Size of the venue, number of participating artists, number of nights all factor into total number of posters. Also, even though Ames prints their own posters, a predetermined number is agreed upon beforehand. And, no- i don't think anyone would be printing posters onsite. The logistics would be horrendous.

Well thank you for that at least, although we (the forum) still seem to be in dispute about this.

I agree - no one is printing on site.  It was hyperbole because in at least two instances that I'm aware of there was a seemingly never-ending supply of them. Both Ames bros. Now, just so no one takes this as truly "never-ending," what I mean here is "a hell of a lot."  That apparently, was a predetermined number.

When you say Ames prints their own but not on site - what does that mean?

Ah... I didn't even imagine at the show.  That would really be crazy.

I vowed never to buy another poster since I have bought and sold too many throughout the years... lasted from 2018 to 2024 but this poster is just too damn cool.  Putting it up in my basement once I convert my garage to a workout room.
