Its sad in a way. Every few months I read the QAnonCasualties sub reddit where posters post their sad stories about family members and friends who are too far gone into that world. And not to be minimizing, but it is brainwashing.
You see why conservatives fight so hard about uNiVeRsItY iNdOcTrInAtIoN, creating toxic hesitation about people looking to pursue secondary education. And I know college is not for everyone and not everyone can afford it (I'd love to see that change BTW), but you begin to see why. limiting the exposure of people to broader concepts, new, varied experiences, and broadening horizons helps them cultivate a base of people who don't use critical reasoning, making it easy to be swept up by these movements.
Granted there are other factors that can lead to this too, but theres a reason polling breaks out college vs non-college.

I know a lot of people believe college and university students think of themselves as intellectual snobs- and yeah, of course there are some- but the majority of people taking college level classes are seeking better jobs and gaining skills and knowledge that will help them move forward with useful skills and gainful employment. Our best nurses, police, computer techs, accountants and bookkeepers, counselors, and people in the legal professions like my stepdaughter who, as a paralegal, is able to help less privileged people get the legal assistance they need, have gained many of those skills and that knowledge through taking college level courses.The vast majority of the griping about university indoctrination is a crock of shit. I've taken college classes from three community colleges and three state universities (as well as teaching at one) and it was all about learning useful information and gaining important skills. We need to stop listening to people who don't know what they are talking about who keep pushing these false agendas. MAGA?
