We have an ignore feature. Use it when you need it.

Do not respond or engage in a way that could put your posting privileges at risk.

Can it be made to more permanently/effectively ignore?  And block the other posters from seeing your posts?  I think that would go a real long way in improving the discussions.

I'd like to second this request.

It really is heartbreaking, and scary. We live about an hour and half from Asheville and drive through it every time we visit my in-laws. No one expected that, and it could have happened to us or our family.
It is encouraging seeing so many people come together. Restaurants and local shops here are taking drop off donations of supplies and making trips to isolated places, where people drive them in on ATVs and even sometimes helicopters. It's crazy how many people are still stranded and isolated. So many unaccounted for. I fear the true realization of the impact isn't even close yet.
Off-topic, but I'd have bet money you lived in Wisconsin? Did you move from there recently or am I just making that up?

My wife's aunts live in Bryson City (west of Asheville) and while their home was thankfully spared, there's devastation all around them.

Thanks for starting this thread, and sharing the donation sites.

Catastrophes like these drive home the point that we all need each other in this society.

We know it could be better but right now, it is what it is and we have to use our personal reading skills to Ignore someone's posts that bother us. Sorry.

I very much agree.  I'm on the Steve Hoffman Music Forums page from time to time and they have an excellent ignore feature.  When you put someone on ignore there, you never see them or there posts.  Here, you see that the person you put on ignore is posting, and if someone quotes them, you see there post anyway.  Would love to see an ignore feature here in the future that is like the one on the Hoffman site.

Yes, heartbreaking for sure.  I have a dear nephew and his family in NC and thankfully they were spared.  The thought of what could have happened to them is hugely unsettling.
I hope no one here was directly affected.

I know there is one person using his own helicopter to help the people out.  That's awesome.

Good lord. That’s a great use of FEMA budget dollars and Human Resources. Dispelling rumours. Or is it dismissing facts?

overheard convo at red wing while waiting to get my boots resoled.

usial talking points about failures etc....

made me wonder what exactly people think is supposed to happen and when.

just a little bit of thought, says maybe they need to wait til max flood stage is reached, water receeds enough to see what roads look like. debris cleared to repair roads as needed for basic recovery/rescue/aid . coordinating other logistics,  equipment,  personnel, assess and come up with a plan that then needs implemented.

not sure that can happen is just a day or two....
