I did not see a thread on here so i am starting one.

I have family in Asheville and the reporting isn't doing it justice.  The place is messed up, bad.

Roads, bridges are washed away leaving people stranded.

If you know someone organizing for the people or know someone that can help please post here.

My cousin is taking donations for animal help. Please give if you can. It is for the animals affected

Venmo @BriBenCola Last 4 7242

They desperately need help as there are smaller towns that are cut off from everything.

If you can please help do something.

Thanks

    Thanks for starting this.

They really are not getting the news coverage they need. We have friends near Spruce Pine- just east of ashville and it’s beyond belief. Many, many folks are missing. If I can add to this, the Salvation Army send every dollar they receive from donations towards this.

These folks desperately need assistance. Please considering helping if you can

i believe if I remember this right- the Red Cross is helping with shelter and the Salvation Army is helping with food. Someone can check that and correct if wrong but I think that’s what I’ve heard.

Thanks for sharing.  What my cousin Briana is doing is grass roots.  She is a Pitbull foster parent.  I'll support an form of help though.

    TY for sharing!

My wife said she saw videos at a pound somewhere towards Asheville and it was all they could do to get the dogs out. Aside from the human lives, we pet lovers do need to remember about our canine and feline friends. AND the fine folks who foster them. Thanks to you for getting info out.

Yeah I saw a dog rescue where flood water was about 2 feet deep and dogs were in kennels....horribly sad. Loss of livestock and other wildlife will be huge.

Thanks for posting this.  It's a bit surprising we hadn't started a thread already, so good job!
Helene has caused as much damage as  Katrina did.  Asheville, which I'm told was a beautiful city, is an absolute tragic mess.  Other smaller towns are completely cut off as well and some simply demolished.
This is yet another reason why I keep pushing for us to pay more attention to climate change and environmental issues.   This badly needs to become a greater focus and not just lip service.  And few politicians if any are truly focused or well schooled on environmental issues.  It's all talk.

This is also an absolute reason why Trump and Vance need to lose this coming election.  They are talking about taking federal lands on to build housing.  That means yet more environmental degradation which in the long run will drive climate change to even greater extremes.  Trump and Vance are completely anti-environment.

It really is heartbreaking, and scary. We live about an hour and half from Asheville and drive through it every time we visit my in-laws. No one expected that, and it could have happened to us or our family.
It is encouraging seeing so many people come together. Restaurants and local shops here are taking drop off donations of supplies and making trips to isolated places, where people drive them in on ATVs and even sometimes helicopters. It's crazy how many people are still stranded and isolated. So many unaccounted for. I fear the true realization of the impact isn't even close yet.
