just listened to the MSG I version today. i don't know why people were cutting on it. i think it's a great new version. now there are two to listen to instead of one. i think that's a bonus.

yea the old version just didnt sound that good live. It was so much better in the studio with that drum sound and the throbbing bass line. You cant really hear jeff's bass on the old live versions and this is a crucial part of the song. The new version is incredible, absolutely incredible. Do I dare say that this is the way it should have been all along? The best song off No Code, and arguably the best lyrics

I heard the MSG version and instantly loved it. I loved the original studio version and it was pretty good live but this is how the song is meant to be if you ask me. Everything about it, from the guitar intro which sends chills down my spine to the way Ed sings it......."I'm so hiigggghhhh......"

I've only heard the unmastered mp3 of the MSG version though, can anybody hook me up with the mastered version from the boot??

Didnt make me want to lick my monkey! Boom is great and all but this classic should not be messed with! I keep waiting for them to ROCK in the begining and then when Boom starts his solo it's like "Ok! When are you guys going to ROCK?". Just my take. Let the Monkey spanking begin!

I was watching Matt Cam last nite on TB2K and although Matt is awesome on the older version, the whole song sounds a bit rough to me. The new version sounds polished and it still has the original feeling of the song. New version all the way! Thank you Pearl Jam for mixing things up for us!

Oooh yeah, the Toronto version ! That's a great one. Still think the boys had it down come MSG though. Still, the Toronto version is awesome, I agree! I love it when Ed goes...

I've been listening to the old and new versions all damn day. Bottom line, this song is GREAT!!! Ed puts soooo much into this song despite a few lyric changes. I mean his voice and the way he drags out certain lines is just beautiful and strong! Whatever form it may be in, In My Tree makes me wanna wave to all my friends and stand on top of a mountain and shout these fuckin awesome lyrics to the world. It's sooo powerful!!!! Even sitting here at my desk at work I do little wave motions, tilt my head back for that chorus, and just get swept away by everything that is this song. haha. I can't help it! I can NEVER deny In my Tree. Never.

And you know, even though the new versions don't have the drum intro...the drums STILL kick some major ass on this song. Go Matt!

Whatever way PJ slices it...this song rules imo.

I listened to the MSG I boot last night, and it always brings me to THAT night. OMG, this song just ROCKS every time, whether it is the version from No Code or the live versions...it still KICK ASS!!:D

I can't wait for it to come on the dvd!! wohooo!!
