I don't know. His wife put out a statement saying he barely drinks; the wine bottle on stage is mostly a prop; his issue is tinnitus and the band was playing too loud so he couldn't hear his own in-ear monitors. She even went so far as to claim that when he'd be speaking to the crowd, the band would purposely start playing so he'd stop talking to the crowd, interrupting him. If she is to be believed, the band pushed him over the edge.

Truth might be somewhere in the middle.

Such a bummer. Saw them with Smashing Pumpkins and they were amazing. Hope he can get help that sticks.

Yup. They were great when I saw them too. It’s sad. I hope Perry can get himself to a better place. He seemed absolutely hammered in the clips I’ve watched
  • they canceled the rest of the tour.

i have never liked perry or dave but i know how hard they worked to put this reunion together and i hate that it ended this way. i was happy for all of the fans that were going to get to see them.
    never liked Dave? why?
i don't know why. probably because he was in the chili peppers, which to me is in the top 5 worst bands of all time, lol
I wouldn't say top 5, but I do agree that their popularity mystifies me. When that one song from way back when came out with Anthony "singing" I was blown away by how bad it was. And yet, they played it endlessly on the radio.
1991- Hollywood Palladium, California with Temple of the Dog, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains -RIP Magazine Show Oct. 6th
    1992- Lollapalooza, Irvine, California
    Nothing since then. I suck.
2016- Fenway Park, Boston - Both glorious nights
    2022- Oakland Night 2
    2024 Sacramento, CA

I saw them in Atlantic City about three shows before the meltdown and I can confirm this did happen.  Perry seemed pretty out of it at this show and his between song banter was really bizarre at times ("here's a suggestion the next time you get arrested......."  or "how is the boardwalk here? can you buy crack?).  There were several times where Dave/the band would start into the next song and cut him off.  At the time I wasn't aware of anything going on between the band, but it was definitely noticeable.
  • Does one need to be an addict to want to punch Dave NaVarro in the face? I submit the answer is no.

Yeah, that sounds like the band is covering for him and not sabotaging or fucking with him

Asking about where he can buy Crack is not the banter one wants to have go on,generally.

Sucks that this happened but all accounts are consistent except for the one from the two people we would expect might have different accounts.

    Hope they get some help.

To be fair, when he asked about buying crack on the boardwalk he did say something like.......I don't need to do that anymore, I got everything I need right up here (and pointed to his head).  It felt like the band might have been covering for him so that he wouldn't get too far into the stratosphere with his banter.  Or, they were just kind of sick of it and just wanted to play music.  Who knows. The whole thing does definitely suck, and I also hope that everyone who needs some kind of help gets it.

When I saw them open for the Pumpkins I thought it was weird they still had dancers but was like ok I guess that's just their thing. All makes sense now.

    It really does.

That audio of Perry singing was damning - & quite sad really. I hope he gets help.

A really sad and unfortunate way for a band to end.  Can't imagine them ever being on a stage again once the lawsuits start flowing.

True. That was messed up. Honestly pretty surprised some of these rockers survived so long. Battle scars, immaturity and perhaps real mental health issues.
Glad pf gave us so much of his artistic creativity and hope he finds peace.

Gotta think Perry's apology for his "inexcusable behavior" in the aftermath of the Boston incident isn't going to help his suit.

Regardless, what a sad chapter to the sad ending for what was IMO, one of the greatest bands of my day. To this day I'm a shameless fan of their early releases right up until Ritual.
