Seems like it was just a matter of time.  I missed the show in Tampa a few weeks ago, but this review said I didn't miss much.

I hate seeing what addiction does to people.  This is just plain sad.  I hope Farrell gets some help...again.

Man, reading some of the comments on FB regarding this issue, it's obvious some people don't realize the severity of dysfunctional relationships and the damage of addiction.  I'm not suggesting we should all act SHOCKED!,  or "get all emo", but how about a little basic understanding?  Maybe some of these keyboard warriors have never known what it's like to personally see someone  hit rock bottom or, worse yet, die from addiction.  It sucks.  It's not something you put up a fucking laughing-emoji about.  It's not something you brush off.  When you see someone's life go to hell or they die and you never get to see them again or have another chance to help them, you don't spew snarky shit.

I hope Perry gets help and just puts the band to the side! But we all know money can just make people keep trying to seem normal so the paycheck keeps coming.

  • Perry's wife said Eric put Perry in a headlock and gave him 3 punches to the gut, "an opportunist". Rewatched the video, that appears to be correct. Yikes. Dave didn't even seem surprised. He just calmly walks over, put his guitar down, and that's it.

He posted on instagram a pic of himself with a guitar with the band name showing, and just says "goodnight" in the caption. People are speculating he quit the band.

Perry looked in bad shape. People have been saying all the shows he's been a train wreck, while the band musically was tight. Sad.

i have never liked perry or dave but i know how hard they worked to put this reunion together and i hate that it ended this way. i was happy for all of the fans that were going to get to see them.

"One of the reasons so many great artists die of overdoses early in their lives is because they're using drugs to numb a very painful existence.  The reason its painful is the reason they become artists in the first place: their incredible sensitivity.

If you see tremendous beauty or tremendous pain where other people see little or nothing at all, you're confronted with big feelings all the time.  These emotions can be confusing and overwhelming.  When those around you don't see what you see and feel what you feel, this can lead to a sense of isolation and a general feeling of not belonging, of otherness.

These charge emotions, powerful when expressed in the work, are the same dark clouds that beg to be numbed to allow sleep or to get out of bed and face the day in the morning.  It's a blessing and a curse."

-Rick Ruben, The Creative Act: A Way of Being, p. 75

I really hope Perry Farrell finds a way to work out his demons and continue with his creative energies.

And nice to know others like you feel the same way, thanks!
Whenever I read something bad about all this, I feel awful for these guys and put this on just to remember better days gone by and hope these guys (especially Farrell) can work out some of there stuff.  This is just so cool and amazing (not Jane's Addiction, but close enough):  Sorry not direct video but the link is good.
