Lose the screens; play to the back

IMO, I'd get rid of the screens, let an additional 2-3k people attend each Pearl Jam, add that energy, and play to the back like they always do.

I suspect this is just practice for Sphere, and maybe it's because I saw shows at Sphere that small screens do nothing for me and I find them to be a distraction, but I don't love the current format. Yes, they are cool at times, but overall, I don't love them.

They'll need to reduce ticket prices first or change their resale rules because almost none of these shows are selling out the seats that are available, but I do agree generally.
  • Yeah, I believe the price increases are to make up for the loss of seats not sold, which kinda sucks for the fans.

It's nice to bring a visual element to the newer songs so folks who are less familiar with them get a little something extra but there are more interesting ways to do that than what they're doing currently that could also expose the back of the stage. From up close the video board looks incredibly low resolution too ... It did more for me when I was further back at MSG than when I was in GA.

Second this. Noticed the same thing when I was in seats at MSG vs in the pit in Vegas.

Yes please!! If they want to keep some sort of screen, may I suggest the Billy Joel set up!

The seats will sell, if they're priced accordingly. It makes no sense to sell 200's & 300's for the same price as floor & 100's seats.

L.A. Forum wasn't a sell out this year, or in '22 (but it COULD have been).

Nothing wrong with doing tiered prices. They should. Floor shouldn't be the same as nosebleeds.
But also $193 face value is crazy high, and likely why some of these didn't sell out. Most PJ shows sell out.

I’m fine with losing the screens, but if it is a dry run for the sphere, I am all for it.

Especially because if they play Sphere, there won't be a dry pair of pants in the building.

I agree with this 100%.  No coincidence after 33 years that they all of a sudden decided to experiment with screens without an agenda?  definately testing out imagery, while also warming us hard core fans up to a new concept.

looking forward to the backlit screens at Fenway since I think they will look excellent and have vastly superior video quality compared to the washed out projection setup used for the arenas.

Last Kiss has largely disappeared from the sets. Mostly because they don’t need something simple to “play for the back”. For that reason I say keep the screens.

I dig the screens. I've never seen a visual element like that in 21 years of going to their live shows, but to each their own :) I don't think it needs to be a permanent fixture in their touring, though.

The screens added nothing to the show for me on an enjoyment level. If anything it has taken away my enjoyment of the shows with a lot of songs being forced to be in the same spots or close to it.

The last couple of shows seem to be mixing it up more and hopefully Fenway really has it where any song can be played at any time.
