Is it strange…

That I’ve not yet had the chance to hear Release played live? It’s one of my favorites of theirs. While I have “only” been to 14 shows (scattered through the years since 2003) and have enjoyed each an every one of em, Release always seems to miss me somehow. And it would seem Release is one of their most played songs, if not most played openers. Last night I thought for sure it would be played but that will have to wait till another show. I’m going to both Wrigley shows so surely I won’t leave Chicago without getting to hear it, right?

It's the best opener. Wrigley in 2013 was magic. Hope you get it.

It happens. I've been to 31 shows and I've gotten indifference once, and it was used as a semi regular closer for a long time.   I didn't get it until something like my 18th show, and haven't gotten it since.

At the same time I've gotten Let Me Sleep 3x, and Of The Earth twice.

Sometimes the stats roll weird :)

Indifference is still on my list to see after 11 shows (Wrigley will be shows 12 and 13), but I've had Release as an opener 4 times (Indy 2010, PJ20 Night 1, Wrigley 2013, Chicago 1 2023)
    8/23/2009[Chicago], 5/07/2010[Noblesville], 9/3/2011 [PJ20], 9/4/2011 [PJ20], 7/19/2013 [Chicago], 10/17/2014 [Moline], 8/22/2016 [Chicago], 8/18/2018 [Chicago], 8/20/2018 [Chicago]; 9/5/2023 [Chicago]; 9/7/2023 [Chicago]; 8/29/24 [Chicago]; 8/31/24 [Chicago]
  • I've been to 30+ and have heard release 5 times - all 5 as openers.  It is a wonderful opener.  Hope you hear it!

It's the beauty of the way they do set lists. Although it can lead to missing songs you hope for sometimes.

It took me over 20 shows to experience RITFW, so not strange at all.
  • Took me 50 shows to finally hear Oceans (Wrigley 2016) and have now heard it three times.  Have seen Release 16 times.  Just how it works on this all encompassing trip...

13 Wrigley was my first PJ show, the fact they started with Release, Nothingman and then Present Tense.  Just an incredible start.
