Fingers crossed if we get some PJ shows (which we all want!) they don’t leave it to February again.
Of those I think it might be too soon for them to return to BST again after 2022. Reading/Leeds is no longer really a rock festival so are unlikely to book a legacy grunge act as a headliner. The guy who books the Download line-up has said in the past that PJ are a dream headliner for him but the fact he has failed to book them once in over 20 years would suggest PJ just don't want to play there or Download are not willing to pay the fee that PJ are asking. PJ last headlined IoW in 2012 and is probably the best fit for PJ in terms of the kind of line-up they usually tend to book.
Of course it's possible that they may have had a reserve 2025 date booked at Tottenham in case of cancellation when they booked this years show and will return their next year. Or that another outdoor slot somewhere becomes available because some other as yet unannounced show falls through and creates some availability.
If it's not Hyde park next year then they should do 2 nights at the o2.
Pearl Jam failed to fully sell out any of their previous outdoor UK shows in the past 10 years (MK Bowl, Hyde Park x2 and Tottenham Stadium) and those venues all hold only about 60% of what Download does. So Download could perhaps be unwilling to pay the same level of fee that they may pay for some of the headliners they have booked in the past.
I agree that I don't think PJ would be a great fit for Download these days. They would have been a great fit during the first 10 years or so Download was running but both the bend and the festival have gradually moved in opposite directions more recently. However, it also wouldn't be the first time that Download would have booked a headliner who doesn't quite fit with the tone of the festival.
Was down the front for both Hyde park nights so don't know how well it sold but I would say the weekend was a success none the less.
It was definitely a great vibe.
I'd be happy with 2 nights at o2 and then hopefully 2 nights at waldbuhne or even Amsterdam.
I agree that 2x O2 shows is probably the most likely scenario for a return to London. But I do worry that with a maximum of 40k tickets available over 2 nights it could be a difficult task to provide a fair balance of ensuring that fans who had tickets for the Tottenham show get a chance to rebook with providing a fair balance with general sale and 10C. The band could just not bother prioritising those who had tickets for this years cancelled show but I think that doing so would leave a bad taste in the mouths of a lot of fans and may harm future ticket sales.
As for tickets next year, Tottenham was cancelled so if they play London there won't be any consideration for this years ticket holders.
Should be easy enough to get tickets through 10c though.
Can't see it being any different for London and Berlin if we get shows next year.
If they play London and Berlin next year it's not going to be difficult to get tickets.
Especially for 10c members0 -

With how much has been made about the cost of touring, particularly internationally, I'd be surprised if the band flew across the pond for just a few shows and it seems too soon for a full European tour given they were there this year. Have they ever toured Europe in back to back years?
London
Berlin x2
Vienna
Prague
Amsterdam
That's 6 headline shows right there. They were only booked for 7 headline shows in Europe this summer plus a couple of festival shows. Play those 6 make-up shows plus 2 or 3 festivals and that's a full PJ European summer tour.0 -

Europe ain’t happening any time soon. Poor sales, Euro fans can’t afford new price points and they need to make up the lost money in areas of the world that will cover those losses.0

Yes it may not happen but there is a definite possibility given Jeff’s post (it must be being talked about). As many people have said on here over the last nine months, the pricing was just one of several issues that sort of created a compounded effect. The London date was impacted by poor choice of venue (too big, too far out of London) and loads of people already having tickets for Green Day London and Glastonbury. If they had two nights at the O2 it would have sold out at the new price point. Co-Op live was also basically sold out despite lots of Scottish and Welsh fans having tickets for Green Day and Foo fighters on the same night. Dublin was sold out. They would have sold out two nights at Amsterdam as well. German economy is a mess and impacted by Euro 2024 at the same time…..
If they did a 2025 tour of 2 dates each in London, Manchester, Amsterdam, Berlin, 1 in say Italy and Poland, and 3 festivals (maybe Werchter, Pinkpop and one other) they would have a sold out tour at the current price pointPost edited by drfox on0 -
