Brandon strikes again! And where the fuck was Governor Abbott and Costello? Oh yea, too busy flying migrants to blue states while allowing the #1 person responsibile for the fentanyl crises to reside in his state. Good job there gubner. Obama and Brandon got er done (can anyone spell Osama?).

Top Sinaloa cartel leader taken into U.S. custody alongside son of ‘El Chapo’

Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada and Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman were co-directors of the massive Sinaloa drug-trafficking organization before the latter’s arrest.

MEXICO CITY — A longtime senior leader of the Sinaloa cartel, Ismael Zambada Garcia, or “El Mayo,” and a son of famed drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzmán were taken into custody Thursday by U.S. authorities in Texas, according to senior Mexican and U.S. officials. It was a major blow to the Sinaloa federation, a global drug-trafficking syndicate considered the No. 1 supplier of fentanyl to the United States.

Zambada and the former drug lord’s son, also named Joaquin Guzmán, turned themselves in, according to a former U.S. official with knowledge of the detentions.

The two men are among the U.S. government’s most-wanted drug traffickers, and the State Department had offered $15 million for information leading to Zambada’s capture.

The news of Zambada’s arrest was first reported by the Reuters news agency.

Zambada and the senior Guzmán were considered co-founders of the Sinaloa cartel. The elder Guzmán was arrested in 2016 and convicted of multiple drug charges in the United States. He is serving a life sentence in a Colorado maximum-security prison.

“This is huge,” said John Callery, a 30-year veteran of the DEA who retired in 2022 and pursued “El Mayo” and other Sinaloa cartel chiefs as the head of the San Diego field division.

Zambada was low key, unlike flashy narcos

Zambada, 76, was known for keeping a low profile and eschewing the flashy lifestyle of other drug lords whom he outlasted. His sons Ismael and Vicente, along with his brother Jesus “El Rey” Zambada, were detained and extradited to the United States on drug charges several years ago. Yet their father was never detained.

    Continues…….

CNN commentator presses David Axelrod on Biden's forced campaign exit: 'Lot of dishonesty'

Biden explained his decision to exit the race in an Oval Office address on Wednesday

    Published July 25, 2024 11:00am EDT

Former Obama campaign strategist David Axelrod was pressed to explain how he could account for President Biden's sudden decision to withdraw from the presidential race.

"I think what you’re asking Republicans to do is to overlook a lot of dishonesty that came right out of this White House, that came right out of the vice president, people who work for him, his family, other Democrats, Democrats in Congress," CNN contributor Scott Jennings told Axelrod during a panel discussion Wednesday night.

"You‘re asking the country to overlook a lot of dishonesty about Joe Biden‘s abilities, capabilities, his capacity to serve for another four years and so on," he added

Biden addressed the nation on Wednesday evening from the Oval Office for the first time since he officially dropped out of the 2024 presidential race, saying that he still intends to complete his term.

Jennings said that Biden did not appear to decide to leave the race completely on his own volition, but instead arrived "at this decision with a little push, not just from the goodness of his own heart, but you have to admit, with a little bit of a push from the party bosses."

Axelrod argued that the "party bosses" were communicating the consensus of Democrats and American voters.

"The party bosses were reflecting the consensus of the American people who made a judgment," Axelrod said. "But, Scott, there‘s so many Republicans who I talked to, who are overlooking far more than this, and they‘ll tell you that, about Donald Trump."

"I mean, that is really the story of the Republican Party right now," Axelrod said, adding that the party "is in the thrall of a guy who is morally and ethically challenged and who left the presidency."

"You‘re not on a strong footing here in making this argument," he said.

Jennings responded that Biden's decision to leave the race was a "weird" one.

"I fully and freely admit that both parties have warts," he said. "But we're acting like there's no warts on this situation," Jennings said. "This is weird. [Biden] won the primary without a serious challenge. He told us all he could serve, his party told us he could serve. He's clearly diminished."

"I think he ultimately arrived in the right spot," he said. "He ultimately got here. But it was pretty torturous how they got here and I think a lot of people burned a lot of credibility on the road to getting here."

The White House responded to a request for comment from Fox News Digital by sharing a previously reported letter from Biden's physician, Dr. Kevin O'Connor, explaining that the president is fit for duty.

Breaking news,  Republican Scott Jennings criticizes Biden.  Fox news headlines it with Axelrod to fool its stupid readers.

The whole article is quotes from Axeltod. But if you don’t like what it says the radical liberal way is just discount who published it. It’s not even an opinion piece.

It’s nice how the forum increased the amount of people one can ignore.

I feel the same way.  And that is actually rather sad.  I would much rather engage in civil dialog with people who have viewpoints that differ from mine- to better understand what it is they want, get a better sense of how they see things, find out what we have in common, etc.  But with some people it is like trying to discuss something important with a billy club or a joke book or a locked groove at the end of a record.  It just goes nowhere, and that's unfortunate.

It's extremely hard to have intelligent conversations with anyone that supports tRump. I get not wanting to vote for Harris but there is no defense for supporting that piece of shit.

My Mom is a die hard republican and she can't stand him. She wrote in "Mitch Daniels" last election.

Exactly where I am. I always loved having friends from the right to the left and all parts in between before Trump. I learned a lot from people I disagreed with because we were able to have civil discussions based in fact. That’s a thing of the past now.

Biden's 'dead on arrival' jab at Speaker Johnson bewilders social media users: 'What does that even mean?'

Biden proposed radical changes to the Supreme Court on Monday

    Published July 29, 2024 9:30pm EDT

President Biden’s response to House Speaker Mike Johnson’s pushback against his radical changes to the Supreme Court baffled social media users Monday.

Biden penned a Washington Post op-ed on Monday, calling on Congress to impose term limits and a code of conduct on the Supreme Court while also drafting limits on presidential immunity.

Johnson was quoted as saying Biden’s proposal was "dead on arrival" in Congress. When asked about it, Biden turned the comment back on the speaker.

"That’s what he is," Biden said in a video posted by Washington Post reporter Matt Viser.

When pressed for clarification, Biden added, "He is. Dead on arrival."

President Biden was just asked on the tarmac about Speaker Johnson calling his Supreme Court reform “dead on arrival.” “That’s what he is,” Biden said. Asked for clarification, a reporter shouted, “That he is?” Biden responded: “He is. Dead on arrival.”

Biden reiterated this comment during his prepared remarks on his op-ed at the LBJ Presidential Library, in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act.

"The Republican Speaker of the House says whatever he proposes is dead on arrival," Biden said. "Well, I was thinking his thinking is dead on arrival!"

Biden’s comments were considered bizarre and slightly hypocritical by X users.

"’Put Trump in a bullseye’ has pivoted to the faux POTUS saying House Speaker Johnson is ‘dead on arrival.’ But JD Vance is weird. Or something," Fox News contributor Joe Concha remarked.

Conservative commentator Steve Guest said it sounded like Biden was threatening the Speaker.

The Federalist senior legal correspondent Margot Cleveland commented, "Our Commander-in-Chief just threatened to take out the Speaker of the House."

"Yeah, this guy definitely thought up and wrote the op-Ed in today's Washington Post," National Review writer Jeff Blehar joked.
"what does this even mean?" Sen. Josh Hawley's press secretary Abigail Marone asked.

Targeted Victory vice president Matt Gorman noted, "Only one of them will have a job next year and it ain’t Biden…"

    More Fauxoutrage from the right.

well, he can do that now. as an official  act.

Apparently another high-profile person is being released, too. That would explain what Michael McFaul said about health issues possibly playing a role.

CONGRATULATIONS AND THANKS TO PRESIDENT BIDEN. EXCELLENT NEWS!

Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich is free, according to the Wall Street Journal

Gershkovich, American veteran Paul Whelan and others are expected to be in U.S. custody soon as part of a massive swap of political prisoners involving the United States and Russia, a senior administration official confirmed to Fox News on Thursday morning.

Gershkovich, 32, was arrested on March 29, 2023, while reporting on a trip to the Ural Mountains city of Yekaterinburg and accused of espionage. The Biden administration declared him "wrongfully detained" and The Wall Street Journal and U.S. government both emphatically denied the charges, calling them absurd on their face.

Whelan had languished in Russian custody for years. A well-placed source told Fox News that Turkish intelligence officials played a key role in mediating the prisoner swap.

After Gershkovich's pre-trial detention was extended repeatedly, he was convicted in a closed court of "gathering secret information" and sentenced to 16 years at a high-security penal colony on July 19. His conviction was expected and experts and officials repeatedly said his only hope for freedom was a prisoner swap after his court proceedings concluded.

Dow Jones CEO Almar Latour and Wall Street Journal Editor-in-Chief Emma Tucker blasted the "sham conviction" in a joint statement.

"This disgraceful, sham conviction comes after Evan has spent 478 days in prison, wrongfully detained, away from his family and friends, prevented from reporting, all for doing his job as a journalist," Latour and Tucker said.

"We will continue to do everything possible to press for Evan’s release and to support his family," they continued. "Journalism is not a crime, and we will not rest until he’s released. This must end now."

Prior to his conviction, Gershkovich languished for months at the notorious Lefortovo prison in Moscow. One Russian journalist who was subjected to interrogations there called it a psychologically torturous place meant to make prisoners feel isolated and abandoned.

Gershkovich was the first known Western journalist to be arrested on espionage charges in post-Soviet Russia. The American-born son of Soviet immigrants, Gershkovich had long nursed a fascination with his parents' home country.

With stints at The New York Times, Moscow Times and Agence France-Presse before joining The Wall Street Journal in 2022, Gershkovich developed a reputation as a savvy journalist and made friends around the world. Those same friends in journalism helped keep his grim ordeal in the spotlight; #FreeEvan hashtags were commonly shared on X and other social media profiles by journalists, and The Wall Street Journal dedicated considerable resources and ink to his plight.

The last time Russia exchanged prisoners with the U.S. was December 2022, when it freed basketball player Brittney Griner in exchange for arms dealer Viktor Bout. Griner was sentenced to nine years in prison in Russia for smuggling and possessing cananbis. Like in Gershkovich's case, Griner's harsh sentence was viewed as Russia effectively taking an American hostage to obtain leverage over the U.S.

The consequences and chilling effect on journalism caused by Gershkovich's arrest and detainment have been far-reaching. With western outlets already wary of Vladimir Putin's authoritarian regime in the aftermath of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Gershkovich's plight sent a clear message that no reporter was safe from being snatched — or worse.

On Wednesday, Wall Street Journal chief digital editor Grainne McCarthy sent a memo to staffers noting that Gershkovich had been detained for "70 long weeks" and thanked colleagues for continuing to keep Evan’s name at the forefront.

This is a developing story and will be updated. Fox News' Nick Kalman contributed to this report.

Biden was on the phone with the president of Slovenia securing this deal while isolating with Covid; he finished the call and then said he was stepping down.
