No disrespect intended at all...  To the Americans here...  you have an election upcoming between a convicted felon who is a life long hard core doosh bag, evil moron......    and an old man who looked completely lost in a field during a G7 meeting and who also looked like a confused mannequin at a Juneteenth ceremony.

    Not good.

Is it too late to change the candidates at this point? For either side.  If it's not, what is considered like the deadline for any change to be made?

"Each party holds a national convention to select a final presidential nominee."  The Republican National Convention is July 15 - 18.  The Democratic National Convention is August 19 - 22.

So you're telling me it's not too late?  lol

Evil versus appearance. About sums it up. Should be an easy call but you know, Hunter’s laptop.
I agree about the 'should be an easy call'  ... however...  after the shit storm that has been Trump, it's become apparent to me that if we...  and by 'we' i mean those who support Biden, democrats, are left leaning, are woke... whatever you wanna call it...  if we want to defeat him we have to be not just a little better... but a lot better.

I would go so far as to suggest that Democrat politicians should honestly be making a handful of social concessions to make sure the doosh doesn't get into power.  That's just my opinion.

The worry here for me at least loosely following the likes of Biden and Harris are that they are sticking to pandering to the left.  So to me... they're not really giving anything edible to a would be Trump voter. (fact check me on that... I don't follow American politics THAT much) Beyond that... Biden is now fully... and I do mean fully giving Trump folks the ammunition they need to justify a vote against Biden.  They try so desperately to find a card to play against Biden that they go full lies, fear, and propaganda. Most people buy into it.  With Biden physically showing that he is borderline senile, they don't even need propaganda.

If I'm a democrat... Biden needs to go and soon. Take the opportunities now to make that change. Health, age, his son... whatever you want. Bow out with grace, let someone else take the at-bat.   I feel the same in Canada.  Liberals are on a losing path... and I think the best thing right now is the have Trudeau step down and let someone else represent.   (Problem with Canada is we don't have age and health to point to... Trudeau is just that awful at his job.)

The parties have coalesced around their respective candidates and barring any incapacitation, they’re the names that’ll appear on the ballot. If something were to happen to either of them in a 90-30 day time frame prior to the election, I’m not sure their names could be replaced on the ballot. Different states have different rules regarding changes to the ballot within certain time frames.

It would be a massive undertaking to replace a candidate or presumed candidate at this stage due to organizational constraints and fundraising complexity. That party organization/structure should remain in place with everyone on board and loyal to a potential replacement candidate. That’s not the case and typically what happens is turnover in staff, donors stop giving, chaos, until the dust settles. Much too late for that. Repubs are better at goose stepping.

I have a lot of thoughts on this upcoming election but I haven’t had the time to express them and they’re depressing so I’m procrastinating.

Social media and their campaigns. The only policy stuff I've seen lately is the stuff about the border.

might suggest additional news orgs with no financial benefit in the process. googling the specific laws he pushed and their results(infrastructure,  chips act, etc). sources like AP , Reuters, BBC.

Interesting take, for sure.  But do you think Kamala Harris would beat Trump?  I highly doubt it, but that would be OK with me.  I would be OK if Dave Matthews or Chris Rock or Micky Mouse and a can of re-fried beans beat Trump.

Trudeau is just that awful at his job.)

what source are you using for the time spent following IS politics?
Social media and their campaigns. The only policy stuff I've seen lately is the stuff about the border.

might suggest additional news orgs with no financial benefit in the process. googling the specific laws he pushed and their results(infrastructure,  chips act, etc). sources like AP , Reuters, BBC.
there are news organizations with no financial benefits?  LOL   (said in gest)

That in mind...  and this is kinda where i was going... If I'm a democrat or Harris or Biden's camps....  I would stop all attacking of Trump. To me it's a waste of time falling on deaf ears.  I would constantly advertise my bills, accomplishments, and what would be done moving forward to benefit all americans.

Evil versus appearance. About sums it up. Should be an easy call but you know, Hunter’s laptop.
I agree about the 'should be an easy call'  ... however...  after the shit storm that has been Trump, it's become apparent to me that if we...  and by 'we' i mean those who support Biden, democrats, are left leaning, are woke... whatever you wanna call it...  if we want to defeat him we have to be not just a little better... but a lot better.

    We’re so doomed.

Back at I Love DC Gifts, Khalid Ismail said the best-selling item is a cherry blossom sweatshirt that says “Good Vibes.” Even in June — months after the city’s famously fleeting flowers have come and gone and daily temperatures approach 90 degrees — the sweatshirt dominates. Ismail said he’s never seen anything bewitch customers so fervently, although Trump merch is a close second: T-shirts with his mug shot and visors with fake orange hair flowing out the top.

“We have no horse in the race, politically. Like, we don’t care, but man — people love him,” Ismail said. “Anything Trump-themed, anything with his name on it ... people are buying it.”

Luke Wilbur has noticed the same. Wilbur, 56, used to own Washington DC Gift Shop on Pennsylvania Ave. The pandemic forced him to close, and now he runs DCgiftShop.com. Although he tries to stock an equal amount of Republican and Democrat items, Wilbur sells significantly more of the former.

Wilbur’s not convinced that means much for the outcome of the presidential election. Only that “conservatives purchase more products by far,” he said.

Plus, “when Trump has rallies, they’re all wearing the hats,” Wilbur said. “He’s a marketer ... I mean, Trump was selling water.”

Some souvenir purchasing behavior is seasonal. Across the street from the U.S. Treasury Building at White House Gifts, anything with eagles sells out around the Fourth of July. Christmas tree ornaments are hot year-round. So is anything with the presidential seal or the likeness of the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

    Project 2025 defense posture:

Implement nuclear modernization and expansion. The United States manifestly needs to modernize, adapt, and expand its nuclear arsenal. Russia maintains and is actively brandishing a very large nuclear arsenal, but China is also undertaking a historic nuclear breakout.

    1. Expand and modernize the U.S. nuclear force so that it has the size, sophistication, and tailoring to deter Russia and China simultaneously.

    2. Develop a nuclear arsenal with the size, sophistication, and tailoring— including new capabilities at the theater level—to ensure that there is no circumstance in which America is exposed to serious nuclear coercion.
