I loved that song. Early 90s on Saturday night, the local radio station always did the top club hits and that's where I heard songs like this, The Humpty Dance, Supersonic, It takes two, Regulate, Tennessee. Great music.  Looked forward to it every week.

Sporty has a great flow, Suga Free is great as always, and production by Cricet is top notch

NPR recently had a post on their socials where in celebration of hip hop turning 50 they ask modern artists to name "the one song that made you fall in love love with hip hop?"

    What's yours??

Mine was 'The Fat Boys Are Back'. It blew my 11YO suburban mind. It was the first time I'd ever heard anything like it and I was immediately hooked.

Fun official video released about twenty years after the fact (with lots of easter eggs for the discerning eye) for one of my favorite tracks.

If you happened to notice the name on the door he came out of? Zev Love X broadcasting.  That was his original stage name.  Check him out at the end of 3rd Bass' Gasface video to see a very young MF Doom, AKA Zev Love X.

    Thanks for posting!

Oh yeah, love that song and I have both KMD albums.  Reading "The Chronicles of DOOM" by S.H. Fernando now, which is really good so far.

Doom lived in Long Beach, where I live now.  There is a small urban area that has produced some talent.  Zeb and his brother being two of them.

Do you know if they ever put the KMD - MF DOOM Way street sign back up?  Heard that got snagged pretty much after it was put up.

I'll have to drive by there and see.  I believe it's like that Yield sign in Montana and doesn't last long.
  • I highly recommend that everyone see Digable Planets if they play near you. Saw them a few months or so ago and it was pretty magical. They played a small, jazz club, so an intimate show. They had a talented live band backing them.

Name an album that hooked me on Hip Hop? The Low End Theory. Three Feet High and Rising. Pauls Boutique. The Score. The Marshall Mathers LP. The Coloring Book. Santan Dave's Psychodrama. I like some of Stormzy's stuff. I need some music behind the rapping. I do not listen to a lot of hip hop but every now and again I put it on. EDIT: probably some Jay Z in there, Reasonable Doubt, The Dynasty. Parking Lot Pimping is a bad ass tune.
