I know there's so much hype about the new WMA..

And i'm sorry, but, i just can't do it.

The Bonnaroo version is the best of the new version, and that's just barely listen-able to my ears. And it seems each version after that gets worse and worse (maybe it's the order i listened to the boots.... wasn't exactly in order of appearance)

And the reason why i don't like it, is the drumming. And yes, i have played, for 14 years. I will never go past the Atlanta 1994 version as my favourite of this song.

The drums were never 'nailed' in the new version, except for a few sequences here and there, but not an entire song, and even sounded quite sloppy at times. Nothing against Matt, but this and 'Who You Are' just aren't him. It's the same reason i can't get into the new 'Who You Are'.

I agree. Once I heard the new WMA I immediately went back to '94 and '95 to listen to Dave and Jack. And as for Who You Are...love it, but I could do without the, "You are who, who you are" bit at the end.

well here's a heads-up, there were two drummers for that Atlanta 1994 WMA; Dave and Jerry Gaskill, the drummer of the opening band "King's X." So it can't really be duplicated.

how am I being a hater? He's saying that Matt's drums on the new WMA aren't as good as Atlanta '94. Well, that's because they can't be. even the studio version of WMA has two drum tracks.

I like both versions, and i'm glad they reworked it so they can play the song live again. I agree Atlanta 94 is the best and it will never be topped. I like the new Who You Are too. The one song I wish they would go back to the original is still In My Tree.

well...its been said, but the studio wma has two drums...also teh atlanta 94 version....I also play drums and IMHO matt does a great job filling the whole song without additional percussion...not a lot of rock drummers are able to do that...

Matt plays his own way. Thats what I like about him. And he does a fine job of filling in the those octagon parts by hitting on the smaller toms to the left of his snare and right of his floor toms.

I love the new W.M.A. I think it has a great new feel to it, and I personally think that the Bonaroo version was by far the WORST. They got much better as the mini-tour progressed IMO.

Atlanta is a great version, has anyone listened to "Piss Bottle Men" Seattle Showbox. W.M.A is kick ass and by far in the top 2 ever played

I wasn't talking about you, guy. I quoted you as a pretext to what I said. I meant no offense.
