Does anyone have experience with ticketmaster fraud investigations?  My account got hacked and sold all of my tickets including my single PJ 9/9 ticket section 113 Row 2 seat 14.  I also filed a police report.

I don't have any experience to share, but damn. This sucks. I hope someone helps you get into all your shows.

Thanks.  Let’s see what ticketmaster can do.  This show is on my birthday too.

Good prompt to changes passwords. I've probably got a couple thousand worth of tickets in my account.

I got several notifications and a text message code in the process.

yah that's weird.  Most of the time it's not bigger websites getting hacked, it's people using the same password as a less secure website, and the less secure website gets hacked.   That being said TM does SMS authentication to sell tickets, so your phone would need to be compromised too.

I guess you need to contact TM to see if they can do anything, but they're exactly known for being a solid company with great customer service :)

That's crazy, you'd think there would be some kind of extra level of security to change the one thing that makes two factor authentication work.

It's absolutely ridiculous they dont have 2FA where you can tie it to an app like google authenticator (or other apps that are highly used) Sorry to hear this.

Did you check the ballpark app. I know my ticketmaster tickets for Wrigley are there not on ticketmaster.

That happened to me when the Stones toured in 2019. I had tickets for myself wife and two kids stolen via a TM hack. I called up TM and they were actually very helpful and got me 4 new tickets that were actually better seats than I had. Hope it works out as well for you!

Update: Ticketmaster is letting me buy a new ticket which they will reimburse me for.  This is a bummer since I have lived on F2F for several hours a day to score the one I had.  I got some info on guy who hacked me who had his name and credit card and phone number saved in my account which I reported to the FBI.  Better than nothing I guess but still hard to take.  Back to F2F every day I guess.

People steal and sell Ticketmaster accounts.  Its big business for brokers.  Ticketmaster will not admit what ticket brokers know which is that some accounts are great and others are terrible with regards to getting in and through the queue.  Brokers are paying big money for accounts that are good and get through the queue the fastest.  So they hack as many account as they can, test them and then sell them.  There is a good chance that information in your account is not the person who actually hacked you and is someone who bought your account.  Furthermore, they are probably using fake names and addresses.

This is interesting. On what basis would one account be better than another for getting through the queue?

I was going to suggest looking for bank info, etc-- glad it seems to be working out for you. I'm sure it's still an uphill battle. Best of luck.

Wait, so is TM really being hacked, or is this a shared password problem (which often gets mistaken for a hack).  Where you use the same or similar passwords on multiple websites, and something with less security gets hacked, your password gets sold on the internet, then people sell your email/password, and people try to see how many services it works on?

If TM is being hacked that's a pretty big deal.  That being said you only get so many guesses at the password, so it seems like maybe it's not that?

Also, is that really true that some people accounts get priority in queues? I thought it was completely random.

I could see TM bumping up people who go for the spendy tickets.

It’s hard to say.  I used probably 4 different passwords between several sites/apps but thought they were good passwords.  I changed them all to be way more complicated.

That would be some next-level evil. Can't imagine it would be legal, but it's TM after all.
