I saw Jason 10 days ago in St. Paul and his voice was sounding like he’d been eating sandpaper. Not terrible, but it was noticeable. I guess that’s what happens when you’re play 5-6 nights in a row with one night off for a couple months straight.

his voice has been bad all leg. He was sick just before. I'm sure he's powering through, but he needs to give it some rest soon.

He said last night that they have two weeks off starting today. Hopefully he can rest his voice and get some recovery of it.

Man, I had no idea how JTE's family felt about When We Were Close. Pretty rough. Not a good look for Isbell.

She’s allowed to be upset but I don’t blame Jason for writing a song about his own survivor guilt. The Truckers (Patterson) wrote a song about his death that is much more graphic so it’s interesting that she only takes issue with his.

I don't know. The lines about the family are pretty brutal and if it's accurate that they were estranged it feels exploitative. I know that raw honesty is his stock in trade but not everyone is looking for the same ride, especially when it's specifically for Isbell's own catharsis.

I can only speculate on the Truckers songs but maybe they reached out first, maybe Patterson still maintained a relationship, and/or maybe it's that they're not putting the song out front. We Will Never Wake You Up In The Morning, graphic as it is, also doesn't directly reference his kid.

I think as an artist, Jason is allowed to write and perform about what he wants to. Clearly JTE's death moved him. They were close. I saw them together a couple of times.

Jenn definitely has a right to be upset too. It wouldn't hurt for Jason to reach out and say 'Sorry. My bad, I should have given you the heads up'.

The video she is referencing, he did flippantly address the pain. That was cold. He should apologize for that.

Seen they started following one another again on socials. Good they can be cordial and hopefully puts to bed any bs churned out by the Nashville rumor mill.

'Went to the June 23rd show in Niagara Falls. I thought it was great. I've been listening to his music for about six years, and I think his song writing is so good.

Don't know much of his music, or hers, but I LOVE their version of Warren Zevon's "Mutineer", particularly the version they did on Letterman years ago.

I know nothing about what happened, but for the record, in my experience, if her name is Amanda, she is evil lolol. Just saying.

    Woah.

They are just 2 driven and hard headed people. It wasn’t meant to be and that’s fine.

Really good show. I saw him right before weathervanes came out last year, so he wasn’t playing much of it yet. It was great to hear those songs live.

Definitely one of my favourites of the year and ahead of Dark Matter in my view.  Also see ‘Tigers Blood’ by Waxahatchee, which I also rate as one of the albums of the year.
