Slower 5 or so songs sitting down > Fired up the rest of the way?

I’m great with it, saw 3 shows in 2022 and love the idea.
You actually get to see some rare tunes in the first few songs like we haven’t had before.

PJ lite is a great way to ease into the show. I think it stays. I wish there was still room for rarities near the end of the show, though.

I agree with having the slower start. Sometimes the slow start of the second set took the air out of the room a little bit.

I'm hoping for some shows along the lines of the first Ohana performance in 2021, where they came out of the gate with a lot of material from the new album. I think six of the first eight songs that night were from Gigaton

I enjoy a slow-burning opener-- "Release," "Pendulum," "Long Road"-- but I really want the first song they play in Vancouver to be "Dark Matter."

I would also like to see some of the staples get presented differently. There's no rule that says that, if they play "Release," it has to be as the opener. Play it in the middle of the set. Play it in the encore. If "Even Flow" is going to remain automatic, move it out of that routine spot about eight songs in. As much as I don't ever need to hear that song live again, I'd be hard-pressed not to be excited if they opened with it, because it's always palpably exciting when they've just taken the stage. Or do it in the encore instead of "Alive." They always mix things up with the sets in terms of playing lots of different songs from night to night, but there are certain things that don't get mixed up that I think would get some fresh energy if they were mixed up.
I gather speed from you fucking with me.

Playing porch so early at msg in 2022 completely changed up the feeling with that  song. It was insane!

I could get behind opening with Dark Matter and then into Animal or Hail Hail. Been saying Even Flow should replace Alive, glad someone else agrees.

Release at MSG 1 2016 was played mid set and crushed. Porch 5th song was Betterman 2010 level.

I like the idea of opening with Dark Matter, having said that I haven’t heard any of the rest of the album other than Running.

I doubt they will. Look at the history. They’re covering Owner of Lonely Heart just for fun! Also, Stone’s speech at their HOF induction. They are all about paying homage to music that inspired them to make their own.

3 slow songs to start is a good idea. It helps ed get the voice in place and that can always play songs they dont normally play and more hardcore fans will be happy.

A 2nd encore with say 2 or 3 songs woukd be a good idea but they are sticking to the same format from the gigaton tour 1 encore only

There are soooo many good PJ songs, I'm always disappointed when they play covers

Agreed. It wasn’t too bad when they played 30-36 songs a night. But now? There’s no room. Enough.

I really hope they don’t do the slower start. Not that I don’t like it but I don’t prefer it. I think it’s better suited as a non album backed tour

I think they should play whatever they enjoy playing enough to make them want to continue touring.

Hell yeah! When the band is having fun the show is great regardless of setlist.

Highly unlikely they copy a format long term in my opinion. That would be stale and their career history is anything but stale. Tehy tend to not regurgitate the same things for too long

I was a big fan of it but I'm ready to let it rip. Shuffle those slow ones around the set. Add 2 or 3 to start an encore

I'd be fine with them ripping in with Why Go or Don't Go at Fenway.

The song Dark Matter does sound like a potential set opener imo. Think they could start with it for some of the shows.
Running might be one to take turns with Mind Your Manners and Lukin.
Generally I wouldn't mind a slower start either, especially if that means that after the first or second encore song there will be fast and heavier songs only.

Right, slow start and then keep the momentum going out of the encore breaks instead of having to start all over again.
