Had a geology prof tell us that this fault was long overdue for a major quake. That was 30 years ago so who knows?
Interesting information on what contributes to intensity and distance of being felt. Crazy thing, this planet.

Its all horseshit.  It's that garsh darned solar apocalypse.

I beg to differ.  I think it HAS to be those danged Jewish Space Lasers at it again.  Argh!

The one from 2011 was more impactful I thought. I felt that one moreso than this one.

Shouldn't America have its own earthquake scale? It goes up to 158.3 or something.

I felt it while sitting on my couch waiting for my sister to pick me up for my colonoscopy appointment.  Everything shook for about 20+ seconds and I did realize earthquake.  I survived both.   =)

It was weird. I live near an airport and every now and then we get some vibes from a big plane. This was louder and shook the walls. My Japanese wife knew right away it was an earthquake. We actually have a few cracks in the walls. LIke others I thought it was construction as they are removing old solar panels from my roof.

Anything higher than a 9 liquifies the ground i believe so a 158 should just swallow everything, lol.

No I mean our 158.3 would be equivalent to the rest of the world's 10. I just don't understand how the US is feebly going along with the rest of the world on this particular measurement. What's next? Kilometers? Miles for wimps.

Metric system did catch on with us for one thing though. The 2-liter bottle of soda. An extra 3.6 ounces of sugary goodness over the half gallon.

The new earthquake scale would start with a JaMarcus Russell tremor, proceed to a Ryan Leaf rumble and work its way up to the Brady, Manning, Montana and Marino earth shattering tragedies.
