Running has grabbed me like nothing the band has done in quite some time.  And I’m not even usually partial to the punkier, uptempo stuff.  Don’t know that I’m completely sold on the sewer imagery, but other than that this song is fire from the first note.

This is a great gym song and I can't wait to hear it live. I actually thought about 70-75% of the lyrics were easy to understand almost right away.

I think Dark Matter (the song) is up there with Quick Escape as their best work in the last 4 albums. This song is some of their best punk work overall. I hated MYM when it came out and now love when they play it live. I think this will only get better as we hear it live.

Super excited to hear the entire album. The first two songs just feel very motivated. Dark Matter was new, fresh, different, and kick ass. This song is more like stuff we've heard before from them but I think better than most of the similar songs to this they have. Especially in the last 20 years.

I also honestly don't hear too much Earthling in this but I liked that album. I'm a big fan of what Andrew Watt is bringing to the band. Exciting times!

Big "Go" fan here, but a bit of the shine was taken off the lyrics for me when I learned it was written about Eddie's car. I really like "Running," but the pounding intro to "Go," the guitar riff under the chorus, and the whole outro are all pretty tough to beat as far as galvanizing Pearl Jam moments go.
Isn't the info about Go being about a car somewhat debated? I remember hearing the same thing and being similarly disappointed but I've subsequently heard some conflicting stories.

    Boy I love this track!

Cast out by many on first listen but this fits perfectly.

Love the vocal / lyric after the ‘Dictator / Love Hater’ chant where Ed comes in with ‘Lost in the tunnel….’

I really enjoy this song. That bridge has been the best thing I’ve heard from PJ since Avocado. I wish they could’ve extended it or repeated it.

Also, anyone notice what I’ll call “computer noises” at 1:23 and 1:27? Is that an instrument or a production mistake? Hard to believe it’s not intentional, but definitely 2 distinct noises. A bit harder to hear in the Atmos mix.

Yes, I heard those computer noises for the first time today. Thought it was my phone interfering with my stereo for a sec :)

This song has been kicking my @$$ today.
I died. I died and you just stood there. I died and you watched. I died and you walked by and said no. I'm dead.

Loved this song the instant I heard it, but even more so now after hearing how WFS flows into it.  WFS into Running is a strong 2 piece.

This is fast becoming my all time favourite PJ punk song. The bridges are SO good.

Loving this thread, just shows the importance of album placement. Running went from "ergh, another MYM" to potentially some of people's peaks of the album (I consider the Stevie solo>Stevie coda>Running as my favourite section of the album). And there were plants fears of the bar being lower nowadays, and the band just goes and throws down a 90s level album
