Outside of Pitt and VT, I would cheer for any Big East team in non-conference games, especially during March Madness.  Sucks it doesn't exist anymore.
The Big East still exists though. It’s probably a better top to bottom basketball conference than the ACC at this point actually
Poor wording on my part.  The Big East does exist (and agreed on strength of the teams), but the conference today bares little resemblance to the 90s/00s conference that I associate with the words "Big East".

Well, it bears a lot of resemblance to the Big East of the '80s, which were its glory years: Georgetown, St. John's, Villanova, Connecticut, Seton Hall and Providence are all in the Big East and they make up two-thirds of the schools that constituted the conference from 1982-91 before Miami joined. What it needs is for Georgetown to become good again. But it will always be missing something without Syracuse. Pitt had its moments. No one cared about B.C. then or now, and no one ever will.

The current Big East is one of the most coherent, cohesive conferences in Division 1. It's nearly all Catholic schools, and no schools with big-time football.
I gather speed from you fucking with me.

Love that JMU's coach is a huge PJ fan, and that Jeff hates the ACC!
What does it even mean to hate a conference anymore? Just wait a year and the conference will have different teams in it.
Fair point! Haha.  That being written, fuck any school that is, was, or will be in the ACC.
The ACC is going to be dismantled in 2-4 years

Fun little 30 minute interview CBS Sports posted to YouTube today with Jeff. Mostly about hoops but plenty of PJ talk as well for anyone who's interested!

In the same vane regarding hoops, I follow on X (formerly twitter not the drug) a college hoops writer named Matt Norlander and he asked all the coaches in the NCAA Tournament their favorite bands and 2 mentioned Pearl Jam.  Danny Hurley at UConn and Mark Byington from James Madison.

he also mentioned a few coaches who didn't make the tourney and two of those mentioned PJ.  Mitch Henderson of Princeton and Chris Mooney of Richmond. I had heard an interview with Mooney a few years ago where he mentioned PJ in Charlottesville VA was was the best concert he ever saw.

Isn’t it great to see that after all these years Jeff can’t go past Even Flow and Black as two songs he loves to play. Some nice other choices in there too 👍
