Love the shout out for No Way.  Hope they bust it out this tour.  Also found it quite interesting (at 18 min mark) that they basically made the album in a day.

One of my all-time favorite concert moments was at the Spectrum in 2009 when they abandoned boring-ass Come Back after a mistake and played No Way instead.

I interpret it that each song took about a day, 5-6 hours plus adding some vocals, etc which aligns with what was said in another article about it being recorded over a few weeks across 2 studios

Love that JMU's coach is a huge PJ fan, and that Jeff hates the ACC!

I think he was saying they made each individual song in about a day, not the whole album. They’ve said the whole album took 3 weeks.

Sounds a lot like "Speed of Sound"
Up here so high I start to shake, Up here so high the sky I scrape, I've no fear but for falling down, So look out below I am falling now, Falling down,...not staying down, Could’ve held me up, rather tear me down, Drown in the river

The Beatles recorded the entire Please Please Me album in about ten hours, so there's precedent for it not taking a lot of time to make a great record.
I gather speed from you fucking with me.

I'm a little worried that he says they still have to learn the songs for the tour, and that Ed wrote most of the lyrics on the spot. That's a recipe for some shambolic performances of these songs unless they have a lot of practice time on the calendar, which they're not exactly famous for.

Isn't that what Eddie has done for almost every album?

My impression was that, for most of the albums, Ed has come with notebooks of lyrics or, for the songs that he writes, pre-existing lyrics for those songs. Granted, I shouldn't take what Jeff says about this too literally. "Coming up with lyrics on the spot" could mean pulling lyrics out of his notebooks on the spot.

I'm sure he has some stuff written down. But whenever they come in with music. He writes the lyrics there or maybe takes it home. And if he can't come up with anything we have the instrumentals like Thunderclap and Harmony.
