I'm a university administrator. I like it... it's nice to spend my days in an atmosphere of learning and open-mindedness and equity and eccentricity and youth and all that good stuff. I made a good choice when I settled on my career.

My company may have done it but it was before i was hired.  97 I was building one in Cali.  That was most likely done earlier.

Very cool.  I used to deal w the mechanical subs when we made the precast cells.  We used to joke about the cable in the cells.  Some of the workers would complain that they didn't have cable but the inmates do lol!!!

Yeah, we were built a few years before that. All they had to do was commit a crime and they could have free cable too!

    Excellent!
I've worked at three different colleges ( two in bookstores, one as a program assistant), and have take classes at 3 colleges and 3 universities- I was a higher education junkie for many years.  For me, there has been no finer a work environment!  (And I do sometimes miss it!)

Bumping this because I was gonna start a similar thread before I searched.

I'm a Director of Unclaimed/Abandoned Financial Property (bank/trading accounts, checks, etc.) for a financial services company.

If your account is inactive for 3-5 years, we are required to attempt to contact you and get you to reactivate your account. Otherwise, we send your assets to your state/territory. You can still get it back, but you have to file a claim.

There's almost no reason for an account to become legally inactive. All you have to do is log in, and it's active. You don't need to trade/deposit anything. Just log in.

On the flip side, people do die without beneficiaries, so if there's no one for us to contact, we don't have a choice but to escheat (send to state).

    **PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT**

You can check online with your state's treasury/comptroller's office, for free, to see if you have unclaimed assets. And if you do, the claim process is free. DO NOT GO THROUGH A THIRD PARTY, WHICH WILL TRY TO TAKE A CUT.

I somehow missed a check for unused vacation days from an old job years ago. It was escheated to New York, and I got the $ back. it was like $2K. Free money.

One of my favorite classes as an undergrad at Syracuse University. I think I took two or three anthropology classes there. The anthropology wing was quite impressive with all the skeletons and animal mounts. I will never forget my anthropology professor comparing human beings to animals with a common thread being methane gas, "otherwise known as a fart."

I is a land shark, i.e. attorney. No free advice.  =)

Or by myself, doing music videos/ad work. But haven't had the time or energy to pursue that in a couple of years.
