  • Gone, Wishlist, Throw Your Arms Around Me, Blackbird was a beautiful surprise. He asked the crowd to whistle like birds at the bridge of the tune, and we did!

His joking and commentaries were great. He complimented the crowd's singing and told a story about seeing a late night infomercial while falling alseep in his hotel room for 'a sexual implement' and that at first he glance he expected to see a wrist watch on it as he thought it was an arm! lol..

He also talked about how a woman who was standing and rifling through her bag during one of his tunes looked like she had her white pants (which was actually her bag) around her ankles and that it was sort of distracting...actually that it psyched him to play the song without fucking it up, or something along those lines. Pretty funny stuff. Arc was incredible.

I met Ed for the second time ever today. Had a hug and gave my thanks. Not necessarily in that order. Can't wait till tomorrow night!
  • Just got in from the drive back from MTL.

Lots of chatter from Ed. He even spoke for a couple of minutes before he began. He mentioned that he wanted to aknowledge the rousing welcome.

He played Gone for a recently engaged couple he met earlier in the day.

He recalled how he woke up in his hotel room last night around 1am and was shocked to see an infomercial on sex toys in French!

He told a cute story about Olivia and her learning French.

There was one particular fan in the back constantly yelling "Eddie"...but after a few times of him yelling, a bunch of people seated around him told him to shut up. Eddie thanked the audience for self-policing themselves!

Best songs for me: Wishlist, Porch, Trouble

I'll have more tomorrow, but for now it's off to bed then drive back to MTL tomorrow for part 2!

They have some very interesting stuff on those french TV channels...that's for sure! Get about huit french channels on my TV and whoa!!

I'll shut up now. I wasn't there...but funny that Ed would mention white pants on someone else...hmmmm?

  • friday i took the 10 hour, forever crossing the border, greyhound bus up from nyc
and had planned to score a cheap balconey ticket outside and maybe take a vid or two from up there,
but thanks to a super cool 10c member who had an extra, i was in the 10th row center.

so of course not to be scoped by ed and ruin his vibes, i threw the idea of taking vids out the window.
an ever so potent and poignant version of the beatles classic with ed the genius bringing it up to the current times.

do wish i had the camera on ed when he did flip his middle finger to kiddingly explain before the song "thats when you're looking for this (bird)" ;)

That's really awesome. But why is the audience at every show filled with so many selfish dumbass mfers who want to hear themselves make noise. JUST SHUT THE EFF UP AND LET ME MAN PUT ON A CONCERT FOR CHRIST SAKE. I can't believe this screaming shit never subsides and continues at every show. Why don't people just listen...listen....listen and enjoy.

Even the rythmic clapping. COME ON. NO. NO NO NO NO. Don't rythmic clap. LISTEN. Rythmic clapping is just the worst. just don't. UGGHH. All of these shows are great. Its just too bad each and every one of them are poisoned by a bunch of selfish idiots making unneccessary comments that skew eds direction...EVERY NIGHT. Let him sing. You paid to watch him sing. SHUT UP AND HE MIGHT PLAY THE SONG YOU ARE SO RUDLY DEMANDING HE PLAY.

    UGGGHHHHHH.

    Damn.

what an absolutely phenomenal show. this blew boston2 away, for me. Thanks again to steveman for the awesome ticket!

Blackbird was pretty amazing, and he stopped to talk/tell a story in the middle of it.

He had some trouble with the end of Broken Hearted, missing a note or something and said "fuck me." then missed it again and said "fuck me, again", then finished it beautifully. It was funny, then perfect.

"Gone" was added by request of a fan he met before the show who asked Eddie to play it for his fiance.

Throw Your Arms Around Me w/Liam was awesome.

The whole thing was awesome. Ed seemed really personable, friendly, despite a few obnoxious shouters in the crowd. Lots of stories, jokes, good laughs.

And Lukin! Introduced as "another one you can sing along to".

    Wow 'Quelle soirée' !

Except for the stupid yelling, that was a magic, intimate night. I was really surprise with Liam, that guy is pure energy, amazing loops !
I was lucky with my 10C tickets, row 6 (A) almost center. Hope that will not be worst on the 2nd show.

  • Wow!!! Thank you so much for this show. I missed out on Ten Club ticket so I ended up with seats in the very back row. I was still pretty excited to go, but went straight up to cloud nine when a few guys who worked for the venue came up and traded me my back row balcony seats for FRONT ROW seats!!! I'll be home tomorrow and will tell you everything.

I loved it when he talked about his daughter and how much of a "whipper snapper" she is. He said she is learning some French words and, when he explained he was in a French city, he asked her how to say some things. He said, "How do I say goodnight?" and she said, "Bon... bon... oh, I think if you're really nice you can just say 'hi'"

So then, Ed waved to the crowd and said "Hi!" with a big smile on his face.

Blackbird and Wishlist were real treats for me but what stayed with me was No More which I kept singing in my head as I tossed and turned all night. I'm a sucker for an anti-war song and teared up, I'll admit it.

Looking very forward to the show tonight. I was bummed about all the "Eddie" chanting and laughed when he said, "Okay, so we've established we know my name now." The amount of people taking videos and photos on their Blackberries, cameras, and cellphones was surprising... even with flash in the first few rows.

He also made a comment about how he didn't want to try speaking French because, "By bastardizing the language, you all might think I'm trying to be presidential". The crowd loved his digs at W.

BTW, I had fourth row (DD) centre (3, 5) seats and my 10C number is 20XXX.

Sorry for the scattered post, my thoughts aren't very clear that's for sure! I'm still just too excited!

I guess her bag was on the floor, so from the stage it looked like she was hunched over with her pants around her ankles. Eddie said something about "but see how I didn't fuck up the song, and kept going??" And then later, I forget how it came up again, but he yelled "keep your pants on!" (that may have come up right after the sex toy infomercial story, I can't remember).

With Blackbird, he started the song, then sang a new verse he made up, then told a story, then finished the song. The story he told was about how the song makes him think of the struggles that African Americans have gone through in the past, and then he said he thinks about Barack Obama, and can't stop smiling. The story was kind of disjointed, but you get the picture.

It's all such a blur of awesomeness.

Was he speaking to the guitar? What do you mean "he busted a bit?"

He messed up the song, couldn't get the right key or something. Tried twice and screwed up, then said if he didn't get it right the next time, the guitar was going to end up in pieces. But he was kind of laughing when he said it.

Nice show last night for my first Vedder solo experience :) It was a bit weird to sit during all the show, especially for PJ songs such as Porch or Lukin, but Vedder solo is a different vibe. You sit, you listen, you laugh at the stories, you enjoy. I was at the 1st balcony, almost last row, and i would have sold my mom and dad to be on the floor near the stage with 10c members, but the view was still great. But you know, people on balcony are generally more "quiet and reserved" than people on floor but eh, i'm not complaining cause i had fun even with my not-so-close seat :)

My highlight was Blackbird, for 2 reasons:

    1st - It's a beautiful song

2nd - I've seen Paul McCartney perform it live 3 weeks ago in Quebec city, and i was amaze to hear it again last night with Ed. That brought me straight back to Macca's show for a few minutes. Blackbird live 2 times in 3 weeks, by Paul McCartney and Eddie Vedder, that makes my summer :)

Holy shit, that was amazing. I was 17-18 rows back with my dad, next to another dude from Ottawa. Seats were GREAT, I don't know how you could complain about that. Blackbird was the highlight of the night, other than the fact that I met Ed in the parking lot!
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V

The previous posts pretty much cover most of the occurences.

Man, that guy with his "we love you eddie.... eddie, eddie..." every freakin time there was a quiet moment you'd hear this inbecile screaming the same thing over and over....Eddie asked several times to stop, in various ways, such as ..."thank you...(pause)...MISTER" and, right before "ARC" he said "alright, I'm gonna take this love you're professing and try to do something with it..." then did "arc" amazingly.

He also spoke of his feelings about watching the opening ceremonies of the olympics..."I'm thinkin...these people are gonna take over the world", which is pretty much what I was thinking while watching the ceremonies the other night...pretty funny, or scarry...

Great show, My 10C seat werent great (row 17 center) but the venue is amazing, I dont think there's a bad seat in the house. Eddie relly seemed to be impressed by the venue as well...the pod seats, the velvet...

That's all for now, off to night 2 in a few hours...

    Pat.

What a great show! First Ed solo one for us. Awesome 5th row seats. Lukin to say the least was a surprise! Loved hearing all the Into the Wild material. I also liked NOT recognizing every song, and getting surprised by several covers that I didn't know. Blackbird by Ed I liked; never liked it by anyone else. He had so many funny comments! (And good comments during Blackbird)

Laughed about his comment on the person going through her bag during a song. Can you imagine being front row and center rifling through a bag instead of taking in the show?!

Regarding the opening ceremony of th olympics: 'those people are going to take over the world!' in a joking manner - funny because we'd been thinking the same thing.

And lastly, how RELAXING. I mean it rocked, don't get me wrong, but in the last 3 weeks we've been at Warped, and at Lolla, saw Rancid in Chicago at HOB, holding spots in the dirt and the sun for Rage, NIN, and a bunch of other bands, sweaty, bandanas, sunscreen all over, porta-potties, etc. (and had a blast), and being basically told to sit, in the velvet seats and LISTEN, and just take it in, was quite a treat.

And whoever said one show is enough for them, good, but I'm glad I have another Montreal, and Toronto to look forward to - this was awesome.

Edit - His voice right now is AMAZING. And he seems so happy and strong up there - so good to see.

Oh - I liked all the info in the programs regarding the West Memphis Three, Tomas Young, Darfur - good way to get that info even more out there.

This guy sucked. I hope he reads this. I thought the crowd was preety good other than this retard. And anytime he started his nonsense some others would follow. I felt like if he just shut up and stopped his WWE Chants other people wouldn't follow him. The whole area around us was annoyed by this guy. That being said he could not ruin the night because it was indeed a spectacular show.
