A fantastic recommend from Michael Azerrad, former editor of Rolling Stone Magazine and author of several great music books: “I’m guessing pretty much anyone reading this would positively inhale Barrett Martin's new memoir about playing drums in the pride of Ellensburg, Screaming Trees. There's plenty about their rough and rowdy ways, and it runs from hilarious to harrowing. But, more importantly, there's also lots about how the music got made and the Northwest musical community of the '80s, '90s and beyond. And if there's a moral to Martin's story, it would be like William Blake said: "The road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom."
And it's finally available as an audiobook narrated by me, and you can find it on Apple/iTunes, Barnes & Noble, and Audible very soon. It's also available for free at your local library. We are still filling orders for signed paperbacks for customers within the USA through my website below (however we can't do foreign shipping). However multiple editions of the book in Paperback, Hardback, and Ebook/Kindle are available around the world on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and your local bookstore. Thank you all for making this my best selling book so far! -B https://barrettmartin.com/store/

Well, this is pretty dang cool: On the heels of my recent US tour, 3 of my books are now in Ingram Distribution's top sellers for music autobiographies, including, "The Greatest Band That Ever Wasn't" at #1 & #9 (paperback and hardback), "The Way Of The Zen Cowboy" at #19, and "The Singing Earth" at #20, which is also the book that launched my music series on VEVO, coming in February. You can buy these books around the world, including the audiobooks and iBooks, at your local bookstore, Amazon/Audible, Barnes & Noble, and Apple. We still have signed copies of all of these books, including Lisette's superb book, “Poderosas” about 12 extraordinary women, at our webstore, where you can buy them directly from us at: www.BarrettMartin.com/store

Thank you to everyone who came to our shows, bought our books, and supported independent music and publishing. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and let's roar into 2024! -B

After months of delays, all 4 of Barrett Martin's books are finally available on Audible worldwide, as well as Apple, Barnes & Noble, multiple smaller audiobook companies, and of course, your local library. His latest book, "The Greatest Band That Ever Wasn't" has a lengthy chapter about Mad Season and the making of the "Above" album.

OK folks, the U.K. and European shows are being booked for April and May (London and Iceland are on the itinerary!), so in the meantime, we just got a new shipment of all of our books. We're doing a special offer where any book purchase comes with a free copy of Lisette's new photo book, "Pneuma", which chronicles our travels as we filmed the first season of our Singing Earth VEVO series, which is currently being edited for release. So, if you liked my Screaming Trees book, you can now pick up any of my previous 3 books, as well as Lisette's other book, "Poderosas", which is about 12 powerful women around the world. Again, every book purchase comes with a free copy of "Pneuma" while supplies last. This is for US orders only because foreign shipping through the US Postal Service has become insanely expensive, and the customs forms we have to fill out for a single book requires a full time employee. However, all of these books are available through every book seller around the world. Thank you for your continued support of our small business, Sunyata Records and Sunyata Books, and soon to be, Sunyata Films! US orders can be made at: www.BarrettMartin.com/store

    ..

    Tonight in Seattle!

I don't play that many live shows in Seattle anymore, but when Joe Doria @joedoriamusic asks me to play drums with his amazing trio, I am always honored to do so. This time we also have the great guitarist, Jeff Fielder @jefffieldermusic who used to play with my old bandmate , Mark Lanegan. Joe is a Hammond Organ virtuoso who has played keys on many recording sessions I have produced, and his trio has been going for many years. So if you want to shake off those mid-winter blues, we are going to THROW IT DOWN this coming Tuesday, February 6th at Seattle's legendary Seamonster nightclub. Be there or be square - ha ha!

Here's an interview I recently did with Sonic Abuse Magazine in England about my new Screaming Trees book, as well as other projects I am working on and my forthcoming tour in the UK in May (tour dates coming soon). It's a long interview but there are some good stories to be told! Thank you, Barrett Martin.

I recently received Pneuma from Amazon. Even though the pictures are beautful, I think the quality of the general production is subpar.
