It's a Friday new single from Drink The Sea! "Tuareg Asteroid" is literally the first riff that Alain brought to Barrett’s studio in Olympia, WA. They immediately jammed it out together on just drums and guitar, and then they presented it to the band as a potential song. That’s when the band knew they were getting into something highly experimental - but that’s also where the coolest ideas emerge. The band worked on it again at Alain’s studio in Santiago, Chile, and then finished the final overdubs with Peter, Duke, and Lisette earlier this year back where it started, in Olympia, WA. Lisette played the gamelans, Duke shredded the soprano sax solo, and Peter made the song sound solid and cohesive. Barrett and Alain do the lead vocals together, lyrics are by Alain. The song references some of the best indigenous music that comes out of North Africa, and the video by Tad Fettig melds the Apollo 11 moon landing with footage from Barrett & Tad’s trip to the Atacama Desert in northern Chile last year. This is the final single before Drink The Sea’s Album I drops next Friday September 19th!

Drink The Sea debut album #II is officially out today! It's another 11 brand news songs, which we recorded at the same time as album #I. We just thought it would be kind of cool and something we had never done before in our previous bands, to release two debut albums back to back. So here it is, and it's available on all digital platforms around the world, and soon it'll be available as a double CD and gatefold double LP.

Drink The Sea @drinktheseaofficial rehearsals have officially begun at Barrett's studio in Olympia, WA and we're still signing the double CD package - 22 songs total! Get 'em while the ink is still wet at our brand new website, which also has our current tour dates and ticket links. Thank you!

Barrett Martin's DRINK THE SEA World Tour!

    Hey Folks!
I am pleased to announce the world tour of my new band, Drink The Sea, which begins this November in Europe and continues across the USA and into South America in early 2026. We recorded our debut double album around the world last year and the live band includes myself, Peter Buck (R.E.M.), Alain Johannes (Eleven, QOTSA), Duke Garwood (Mark Lanegan Band), percussionist Lisette Garcia, and bassist Abbey Blackwell. Our debut double album is out now on all digital platforms, and we are taking orders for the 2 CD set with all 22 songs, signed by all the band members. We also have a gatefold, double vinyl LP with all 22 songs, which can be ordered through a different company. The links for concert tickets, CDs, and LPs are below, and we hope to see you out there on the road!

I've posted the videos for all of the Drink The Sea songs in this thread:

Drink The Sea - new group with Barrett Martin, Alain Johannes, Peter Buck, Duke Garwood

The Tad Fettig visuals work so well with all the songs
    “Do not postpone happiness”
    (Jeff Tweedy, Sydney 2007)

“Put yer good money on the sunrise”
    (Tim Rogers)

What an incredible gig! Amazing musicianship and visuals! A beautiful show in all its simplicity! Lisette, Barrett and Peter signed my copy of the Drink The Sea photo book :innocent: I also took  home a signed copy of Barrett's setlist

I'm the guy (dark blue shirt) behind the hanging black jacket in the front row.

Thank you Portsmouth, England! Birthplace of Charles Dickens and current mooring site of the HMS Victory, flagship of the Sea Lord, Nelson Trafalgar. Yes, we know our British naval and literary history. Thank you for welcoming our hybrid American-British band to our first UK show. We appreciate it very much! ~ Barrett Martin

^ Get ready to be blown away! I forgot to mention that they covered REM's This One Goes Out To The One I Love, Mad Season's Long Gone Day and QOTSA's Hanging Tree. I saw Barrett w/ Duke in London during the 2024 Singing Earth tour. Lisette was there too, but she didn't join them on stage. Another wonderful gig!
