As a Niners fan, I've lived through 5 Super Bowl wins and 2 losses.
Had some seasons where I thought they were the best, and they didn't make it through to SB.
I'm not going to get bullish on anything until the playoffs.
(And, I sat in the stands last year and thought Philly would win.  I'm a fan but I'm not a blind rooting interest fan.)

Hoping Niners ride whatever waves are coming and roll into playoffs.  Peaking at week 6 gets a team nothing.

Yeah, as a Niners fan I have gotten my hopes up too many times thinking "this is the year!" only to have a great season fall apart. I will keep an even keel and see how it plays out. A lot can happen over the course of a season.

Well Wob, it's a good thing the Super Bowl is 4 months away. But congrats to San Francisco on winning the first 5 weeks!

Seriously though, the Eagles have not come close to playing their best football and are still 5-0. Just about all other SB losers are 2-3 or so at this point.

They have left a TON of points off the board with drives stalling in the red zone. Part of that is adjusting to the new OC but they need to be better. At this point, the Niners look like the better team. I'd rather be playing better in December than in October though. 

Browns fan here.  What is this "Super Bowl", of which you speak?

It's the game that is played at the end of the postseason.  You do know what the "postseason" is as a Browns fan?

Maybe he doesn't know some people have nicknamed it that instead of the more classic Superb Owl. Not as catchy, but I think it may stick.

I can appreciate all of that, juggler…..but, right now, the “power ranking” should not even be close (IMO).

With all due respect, who gives a shit about an October NFL power ranking though?

I wouldn't say he rode Brady's coattails. Especially for the first three championships that were carried by the defense (not that Brady wasn't great then too though). But Kraft is the one at fault for Brady leaving when he did. Belichick thought Brady was done, and was dead wrong. But even if he was right, Kraft should've overruled him and said "Tom Brady is the Patriots QB until he doesn't want to be anymore." Would they have won another Super Bowl like Brady did in Tampa? No. The entire team sucks, not just Mac Jones. But they still should've played it out with Brady. 

But by not doing that, all Belichick has done over the past four years in lend credence to your assertion that he rode Brady's coattails. I disagree, but it's not like Belichick doesn't deserve that narrative. Nearly every personnel decision he's made over the past 8 years has been wrong, including letting Brady walk.

Brady had nothing to do w/ the defense or coaching in the '18 title run that stifled Mahomes & the Chiefs' offense for the first half of the AFCCG or broke a Super Bowl record by holding the Rams to < 10% of their average PPG from that regular season. I also don't think he had anything to do with the defense that held the Falcons to only 21 points in the 2016 Super bowl or having the defense prepped & ready for that goal line play against the Seahawks 2 years prior. 

I agree w/ @MayDay10, it really was a perfect storm of coach & qb combo that led them to all those titles.

RE: Letting Brady go... they made him an offer and he never replied or countered. He was talking to Miami his entire last season (they were punished for tampering)... the guy wanted out, I don't think there's anything they could have done by then. Who here HASN'T been sick of their employers after 20 years? 

I always thought Belichick thought he was done and wanted to let him walk. Well in that case, Brady saw the writing on the wall. The team would've been the same team but with Brady instead of Cam Newton/Mac Jones. That may be good enough to win a playoff game or something, but not the success he had in Tampa.

I don't begrudge Brady leaving... he wanted another ring and he wasn't getting that w/ New England. That's life. 

GM Belichick is trashing HC Belichick's chances of passing Shula. 

Don't think his ego would allow it, but GM Belichick should relive himself of those duties and worry about coaching only.
