As a new parent, Save The World really got to me. Brilliant songwriting
My family just drove to Vancouver Island yesterday. My kids had their headphones on watching a show in the back and my wife and I played the new cd. After Save the World played, she says to me, “that is an intense but awesome song.”  Pretty much sums up the album.
    yup

This dude is amazing but I'm an emotional wreck listening to this album.
Yeah there's some heavy shit on this album.  But so damn good.  Jealous of all the people on the west coast seeing him with Deer Tick opening....that's a dream lineup for me.

I listened to this interview today. It’s from May so they don’t talk about the new album but still a good interview.

I’m still loving this new album. Might be my album of the year right now. Volunteer, Vestavia into White Beretta is so good!! King of Oklahoma is probably my favourite though overall.

Couple of updates - My wife and I took the kids to New Brunswick last week to see our first show since Weathervanes. Great little theater, saw him do an acoustic show there last year. Sound was great, band was on fire, typical setlist for this tour with heavy Weathervanes. Interestingly, everyone sat, basically the whole show. This was great for my young kids because they could see and love it. But it has got to be weird to play rock songs to a seated audience. He actually mentioned it when someone shouted a request, said something along the lines of we don't take requests from a seated crowd. It was actually really funny. I saw him play Southeastern start to finish last December and the crowd sat for most of that too, so strange.

On that note, he just announced a 10yr anniversary release of Southeastern. Updated photo on the album is cool, 4 LP box is available with RM album, demos, and one of the 2 shows from last December for a live version. Preordered and can't wait. Will see him twice at the Ryman in October too!

We saw him earlier this year in Evansville Indiana and the crowd stood the whole time. We have tickets for one show at the Ryman on a Friday and are going to make it a weekend in Nashville.

Also. Kinda interesting that his tour starts in Iowa 2 days after the PJ shows in Chicago.

Relative to the last couple albums Weathervanes rips and plugging Will Johnson into the band is only gonna bring more ripping to the live show

His last several tours have been a little too mid tempo for me. What they're doing now is something else.
