Can anyone tell me at what point post grad you have to be making 125k to not qualify for the forgiveness? Surely we don't expect college grads to make that their first year out of college.
probably not first year....I know accountant's are getting paid about $80-$90K first year. Nurses are making $125K after a few years
So what is it? I have looked for that super important detail from the start of this and can't find it.  Leads me to believe people are immediately eligible and that seems crazy.
pretty sure immediately....that's the way it was under the first attempt.

See that's crazy.  You walk out of college and have some chunk of your loan waived because you don't make 125. I can't think of any job that pays that to a college grad.  Plus even if you did,  it wouldn't be on your taxes for at least a year,  if not longer depending on when you start.  I'm a D as you all know,  but this is silliness.

She made a broader point,  but you seriously have to be stupid to frame it that in such a glowing way.  Like I said,  it seems like her speech writer punked her.

I'm not getting any relief from this but I am happy for those that are. Student loans are a bitch, for those of us that came from backgrounds with no family help and went to school at a time where working three jobs couldn't get you through community college.  I've said it before and I will say it again, even if they forgave everyone the hour after all of my payments were made I would still be out celebrating that someone cares about poor and low income people. I don't love Joe, but student loan forgiveness and fixing the cost of higher education was the main reason I voted for him and didn't abstain.  Hopefully by the time my daughter is in college we will catch up to the rest of the civilized world and provide free and low cost education to all that wish to further themselves.  The upper middle class resentment against helping people with this stuff is frankly sickening.
Forgiving debt does not fix the cost of higher education.

What has Joe done to fix the cost of higher education?

Do you really think that the only people benefiting from the debt forgiveness are the poor and low income people?!?!  No fucking way! The poor and low income never made it to college.

Where does the $39 Billion come from? We are borrowing money to pay money that was borrowed. Now all of America will be paying the interest on these loans.
Yes they did and they used loans. I worked 3 jobs and couldn't afford trade school without student loans.  I guess I wasn't poor or low income...  As for if some people that aren't poor are benefitting, great!  These loans never go away.  Consistently paying and watching the balance stay the same or expanding over ten years is ridiculous.  I haven't missed a payment and only because of the interest freeze was I able to finally get to owing less than my original amount borrowed after about 10 years.  There is no reason student loans from the federal gov should be about making any more money than needed to service the loan and pay administrative costs.  If this system was truly about helping Americans get an education we would see low interest rates with manageable repayment plans.  Instead we have a system where schools take advantage of the system and raise costs because they know people live in a country where they have to get some kind of education to get ahead and most will take out loans to do so.

As for fixing the cost of higher education I believe Joe has proposed and been shot down on free trade school and community college.  Unfortunately people think that that is not a worthwhile pursuit and they would rather see people saddled into a perpetual debt cycle...Or cry about how hard they work and how there isn't anything in it for them if other people get free education when they didn't.

I'm glad my life of hard work hasn't made me as bitter about other peoples situations as some other posters here.

LOL...were you worried about all of the PPP money (and employee retention credits) when that was doled out?

tRump gave me $50K that I didn't need and it was tax free.
Trump also handed out unnecessary tax cuts to the wealthy and corporations during his term. One might be so inclined to call that a hand out and it ended up adding over 2 trillion to the deficit and did not help the economy one bit. They kept saying GDP would sky rocket as a result. Nope. Didn't happen. It was completely unnecessary at that time.

I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing ol'JB didn't benefit from that much and also didn't complain about it much at all either.

If memory serves, GDP was needed to grow at 6% quarter over quarter for TEN FUCKING YEARS to pay for the tax cuts. Something that had never ever happened in US economic history. But you know, student loan debt forgiveness will break ‘Murica.
Largest sustained stretch of growth in our country's history when that was passed. Totally and completely unnecessary.

but that money went to people who did not need it, like sitting senators and members of congress, and all of it was forgiven.

i am 1000% more angry about that than i am some people getting a part of their student loans forgiven.

congress is the greatest job ever. you just get to grift grift grift and nobody ever gets voted out. well most people, anyway.

To be honest, at least she’s on topic. I have to agree with the troll that Democrats (for the hour I watched) were deflecting mostly, and drawing comparisons to Trump. I think the public expects that at this point, and it feels stale and ineffective.

One might be so inclined to call that a hand out and it ended up adding over 2 trillion to the deficit and did not help the economy one bit. They kept saying GDP would sky rocket as a result. Nope. Didn't happen. It was completely unnecessary at that time.

I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing ol'JB didn't benefit from that too much and, now I'm just going out on a limb here, I bet he also didn't complain about it too much either.

I'm talking about Biden and student loan forgiveness and everyone wants to discuss Trump. The only argument you all have is, "but Trump".

    Because

    He

    Has

    Thirty

    Point

    Lead.

After he personally caused the deaths of five police officers and two of his voters. Conservatives need to have their heads examined if they are unwilling to end trumps tyranny once and for all in these primaries.
That's fine but it still has nothing to do with Biden or student loan forgiveness.
