    I wrote this a while ago, but guess I forgot to hit post.

    I agree with the not guilty verdict because I don’t think people should have criminal charges for doing their job poorly. Doctors kill people for doing a poor job and rarely face criminal charges.
    This whole case was classifying the cop as a caregiver in order to bring these specific charges. He doesn’t fit the definition of a caregiver and that’s why he wasn’t found guilty.
    Im not saying this cop did the right thing, I’m just not agreeing with criminal charges for not doing your job.
    Also saw responses about pensions for cops when cops keep their pension when they get off of charges. I’ve brought this up in the cop thread, I don’t see how it’s legal to take a pension away and I’m surprised there hasn’t been a successful case against it. Cops fund their own pension, like teachers. A portion of their paycheck is withheld and put into their retirement system. It’s their money, not a bonus for a job well done. I’ve never heard of taking away someone’s 401k because they got arrested for something. A pension is really no different. Instead of me having control over my own 401k investments, it’s controlled for me, but I still pay into it. How it can legally be taken away I don’t understand.

    But I don’t see the big deal about this location. I doubt he chose it and that he or anyone else was aware of what happened nearly 100 years ago when they did. Do we really expect everyone to look up the history for the last 100 years when shooting music videos?

    We went "shooting" as a family outing...  So I guess they were grooming me to participate in that?  Family gathering?

    This just states that if you teach/train your kid to do anything it's grooming then.

    I'm using myself as an example that I was not groomed...  That isn't what my family did.

    There is clearly a difference between Rittenhouse's "grooming" and other scenarios. His mom was encouraging him to police the streets that night which I doubt most parents would do.

    I don't think it's a bad idea to take kids to a gun range and learn how to shoot a handgun, etc., but the idea of a gathering where people are shooting assault weapons does bother me quite a bit. It encourages the mentality that you might need to use them at some point which is pretty ridiculous in my opinion.

    I do believe that can be done responsibly. I'm just talking about the big picture. The people that I've met that do that seem to believe they will need to arm up and fight off tyranny at some point.

    If Rittenhouse had thrown a baseball or tire at someone instead of shooting them with an assault rifle you might have something there.
    I'm using myself as an example that I was not groomed...  That isn't what my family did.

    Every kid that gets taught to hunt can be used as an excuse that they were groomed is what I'm getting at.
    But hunting is miles apart from feeling like you need to carry an assault weapon around for self defense

    It was cool.  That's why we took the picture.

    We shot guns because it was fun and we made targets and competed against each other.

    None of us believe we are going to fight tyranny, lol.  I know they are out there though. I keep forgetting that we have crazies and not take it personally.

    You're being too webster and literal here.

    When someone says "they were grooming them" it has a negative meaning or undertone.  We had a whole thread dedicated to the act of grooming and they were pretty much all predators.

    It means something but using it in context can have a completely negative meaning.
