Not being biased because I was there, but the tag at the end of the Ottawa one is beautiful. Every other version now seems incomplete.
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V

i think the date was 4-3-94, and it was at the fox theater in Atlanta, GA...it just sounds sooooo sweet, it's insanely powerful and mikes guitar solo just tops it all off...

although i am a big listener of the version on
    live on two legs
    &
    mtv unplugged

State College 5-3-03 is my quintiscential (sp) live version of Black... Ed's vocals, like Frosted Flakes, are grrrrrrrrrrrrreat... and Mike's solo at the end is absolutely THE perfect Black-ending solo ever. If they were to re-record it today, that would be the solo... hands down.
"... are we getting something out of this all-encompassing trip?"

I think its close between Live on two legs and MTV Unplugged. MIke's solo on LOTL is amazing and Eddie's raw emotion on MTVU gives me the chills. But I do agree that Buenos Aries is amazing, some really good band/crowd interaction.

The 25-11 version in Buenos Aires is very similar to that one, I think it´s better because it was first :D

My favorite is the version from mexico city night 2 in 2005

Its just perfect, 11 minutes long, the crowd is amazing, eddie sings amazing and It ends with : "Wow Hermoso Hermoso"

    That version is great

Any time they play it, it's bound to be a great "pergormance."
    one foot in the door
the other foot in the gutter
    sweet smell that they adore
    I think I'd rather smother

i sometimes used to round up 10, 15 shows and go through all of them at once just listening to the different versions of black. i love camden night 2 and st louis 03, just because of the way mikey manipulates his special effects. charlotte 03 has a very powerful, almost mournful wrap up to the song that always leaves me in chills. ottawa05 i believe is the one that has a great tag that i had never heard before. torino 06 has great crowd participation. finally for 2000, lubbock, tx has more great effects from mikey. 10-17 dallas and 6-1 dublin are also standout.

fyi: my girlfriend just gave birth to a new baby boy on saturday. his name is avery stone matthews. rock on stoney!

I love last years Dublin Black :o but I was there... it still gives me chills listening to it.

I think it's the one song that ALWAYS works... every version seems special in its own way so to pick out the best would be impossible :o

    Congrats by the way :)
