That does seem to be Wembley policy, but usually after the gig someone or a couple of people hands tickets back out to those who want 'em for memoribilia.0

yeah, but why do they do it...? just adds a bit more extra hassle at the end of the show when you're thinking about how long the queue for the tube is going to be...Oh yeah? Well, I've had about enough of morons and halfwits, dolts, dunces, dullards and dumbbells - and you chowderhead yokel, you blithering hayseed, you - you've had enough of me?0 -
Is Wembley always wristbanded for standing?
I think that they take tickets off people as I've been to shows at the Glasgoe SECC and folk go into standing then someone collects 4 standing ticket stubs goes out of the standing section, meets up with folk wanting to get in standing and distributes the ticket stubs so they can all get back in to standing.
Its a good trick but one that potentially carries major over-crowding risksA democracy on paper, apparently well ordered, regularly subverted by irrational chaos.

The few times I've been (before the refurb) all standing have wristbands put on and their tickets taken off them at the door.So are we strangers now? Like rock and roll and the radio?0 -

yup, that's what they do.
i suppose it's them being doubly 'safe' but, if they rip off your "to be given up" ticket stub and slap on a wristband that can't be taken off without cutting, why do they have to take the "to be retained" part of the ticket off you as well ?
ah, wtf, so long as i get in i'm not going to complainOh yeah? Well, I've had about enough of morons and halfwits, dolts, dunces, dullards and dumbbells - and you chowderhead yokel, you blithering hayseed, you - you've had enough of me?0
