    On the phone with the Canada Revenue Agency. Trying to figure out why my 2020 tax reassessment is still “in process”, which is holding up my 2021 tax return (still in process) and the government is holding on approximately $8000 CDN owed me due to overpayment of taxes. 

    While the reassessment is the result of previous real estate losses and my rather incompetent lawyer at the time not providing me the information prior to filing the 2020 tax return, it is unfathomable that we are nearing the end of 2022 and none of this is resolved. 

    Alberta real estate tax laws are different, and I have a feeling my file has been passed around the offices in Sudbury ON or Winnipeg MB and either no one knows what to do with it, or doesn’t want to deal with it. 

    It’s amazing how they will charge you monthly interest on monies owed, but they can sit on my hard-earned money for as long as they want.

    This is in no way one persons fault. There was a security breach and I sent proof by snail mail in July. The person who I talked to in the Security side (1-833 number) told me an agent will be assigned to my file, confirm my identity from the documents requested in June and get my 2021 taxes done in the next two weeks.  My 2020 reassessment will be done shortly thereafter. 

    Obviously the CRA is underfunded and understaffed, like the rest of Canada; private and public entities. 1,000,000 jobs available here and some redneck losers are opposed to immigration somehow
