i went on the monday and wanted to go ont he thursday if ebay was going to come through for me...all day wed i was on it at work with most of the bidding ending wed night or thu morn...left work on wed and as i came to Bourke and Exhibition street corners, there was Stone, Mike and Matt walking with their kids...kids were banging on windows and everything but no one knew who they were at all so i just walked amoungst them pretneding i was one of them and felt pretty cool..followed them to Sofatel in collins st where they must have been staying and than went home..itw as at that point that i knew i must go to the next night's show and actually managed to get a ticket from some indonesion bloke at 7:30 when the doors were already open and i was still at work...only stung me $90 too which was what the original price of the tickets were and was better than monday i think0

melbourne 3 is a great boot as well as being an awesome show... the aforementioned coin game, the change in DTE lyrics to "i am the first man to drop a coin out of my ass" and the references to Damien (off he goes and YL - 'damien i'd ike to stay').
not sure who damien is but i have a feeling that he may be a friend/relative of Anthony Hurley the melbourne fan who died at roskilde. i came to this conclusion cause they dedicated 'off he goes' to him and apparently that was Andrews fave song. They dedicated it to his family in 2003 from memory.
and LBC also made an appearance on this set with the changed lyrics to '9 friends we're getting to know more and more each day'.
probably reading WAY too much into this boot but hey got to do something now they are gone!

one more thing on the boot - at the beginning of eldery woman the clapping is awesome. i was in the 4th row and matt was poking his head over the drums and getting us to do the 1,2 1,2 clap kinda thing. sounds good too.
shame it didnt last longer.0 -
Ed's speech before wasted reprise is great too "incredible things have happened, incredible things up here, and things we never thought we'd have to go through down here...but here we all are today, in this one moment...together, and we made it..."
Ah, goosebumps stuff, I wish I was still there!Do ya see the way that tree bends?0 -
The Melbourne show on the 16th was the first time I've ever had the pleasure of seeing Pearl Jam in concert, as I live up in Darwin and big bands don't play here. I just have to say that when they began to play Unemployable, I almost went weak at the knees. It was the only song from the new album that I really really wanted them to play, it being one of my favourite Pearl Jam songs ever since I heard it.
Some other notable favourites from the show were; Dissident, Sad, State of Love and Trust, and Love Boat Captain... I'm proud to say that I screamed 'love' every time Eddie said it, just as he suggested.
I walked away from that night the happiest I have ever been in my life."this one, anytime I say love if you wanna say love, uh, say it, and if you say it you might as well say it loud, and if you don't feel like sayin' it, don't say it, but if you feel it, certainly say it..."
NOTE: Everything I write in the P,P&M section are intended to be songs, not poetry.0 -

Hey, that's so great to hear. I'm glad it had such an effect on you.
I'm not sure how long you've been into PJ, but it's heartening to see new, younger fans coming on board for a band that has been around for 16 years. Like 12-year-old Nick who got on stage at Sydney 3 during RITFW - that was just magic. It's a testament to Pearl Jam's genuis that they're still as relevant in 2006 as they were in the early-mid '90s.1995: Melbourne 1
1998: Melbourne 1, 2, 3
2003: Sydney 1, 2, 3, Melbourne 1, 2, 3
2006: Sydney 1, 2, Melbourne 1, 2, 3, Sydney 3, Newcastle, Adelaide 1, 2, Perth
2009: LA 1, 2, Melbourne, Sydney
2014: Gold Coast, Melbourne, Sydney0 -
anyone have any idea on who damien is??? see my earlier posts up there! not sure why i am so intrigued - weird i know!0

thanks. I've been a Pearl Jam fan for about Ten years now, ever since I actually started listening to music at 12 or thirteen. I've never been too bothered to actually join the Ten Club until I saw them live in Melbourne. Suddenly I was all like... must devote life to Pearl Jam! and all, and all"this one, anytime I say love if you wanna say love, uh, say it, and if you say it you might as well say it loud, and if you don't feel like sayin' it, don't say it, but if you feel it, certainly say it..."

Oh yeah, just to test people's memory.
I was the only person who stopped outside Rod Laver Arena after the concert and sat on the side of the little hill next to the oval and had a cigarette. I swear I was the only one who wasn't in a rush to leave... weird.
So anyway, if you saw me, say so... just out of interest. (Call it a 'social experiment' related to memory)"this one, anytime I say love if you wanna say love, uh, say it, and if you say it you might as well say it loud, and if you don't feel like sayin' it, don't say it, but if you feel it, certainly say it..."

No I didnt see you Perceptual, but just wanted to say glad you enjoyed the shows, must be a bitch living so far away and not getting to see many concerts. Cool that you chose to see PJ, the best band around. After the third show I was one of the crazies who hung around the gates waiting for the band to make an appearance, after a while security told us that they weren't going to be moving for ages with a game of table tennis going, pizzas etc so I decided to go to the Queensberry which was a lot of fun.0

I am so glad I accidently went to this show instead of the first two, the set list was a dream, althugh I realised after the show any most songs i love anyway so i was bound to walk away happy. I missed the first two because oof boking tickets on ten club and thinking i had them and i didnt have tickets at all. And I was the only person who stood up from the back stalls at rod laver no one knew songs except from last kiss and better man, but god i had an awesome time, i was jumping like crazy and i didnt care that non fans were staring haha.0
