    i don't know about you all, but i am kind of getting the feeling that the world is crashing down on trump. like we are now at a point where something is going to happen. i have felt that way a few times over the years, but  this feels different than the other times.

    His fingerprints (literally, probably) are all over this one. I think that's the main difference. There's way less people who he can have take his fall this time around.

    Think of the practicality of arresting a former president. We like to say no one is above the law but there is no real way to pull it off without pissing off millions of crazies with guns, who would happily pull the trigger over this, and Jan six is proof of that. And the instant a Republican becomes president, Biden, Obama and Hilary will be sharing a cell.

    Its not worth the risk for simply trump  taking documents. Now if they have evidence trump was up to something nefarious with a foreign enemy, that could be different

    Doing nothing appease the cult creates a greater long term risk. There is no situation where they will sit back and say that Trump went too far this time and he needs consequences. What's helped me with dealing with my reaction to the ridiculousness of maga trumpers was accepting this reality a long time ago. There is no point where they will stop supporting him, so I gave up hoping for that to happen. Trump needs to be indicted for this just based on what we know so far. It's essential for the health of our country and the wackos can't call the shots. And nothing would be different if there appeared to be something nefarious with another country, because getting decent evidence of that would be too difficult, and again, the base wouldn't care. They wouldn't care if intelligence sources around the world were put at risk. They wouldn't care if he shared documents related to developing nuclear weapons with Saudi Arabia.

    I don't know. Doesn't he inherit the work that was already done, though? One thing I read about this guy is he is an aggressive prosecutor so, like you said, it means an indictment would be likely. Hopefully he gets it done quicker.

    I do like the fact that this makes it less political than if Garland himself was the one bringing him up on charges.

    I'm not following the logic here.  

    Why do you think nothing will happen after Nov 24?  The goal of the dept will be to determine any indictments WELL before the 2024 cycle heats up.  That means sometime next year for sure, probably mid year.  All of your other statements flow from that assumption.  And if the R took the White House, the Republicans wouldn't 'sack" Garland.  He would be gone at inauguration by tradition, since he's a cabinet member.  Either way, this is getting wrapped up way before any of that.
