private schools shouldn't get public funds. full stop. religious or not.By The Time They Figure Out What Went Wrong, We'll Be Sitting On A Beach, Earning Twenty Percent.0

Seems like the wrong path was to ever offer vouchers for private school. Screw that. Provide public school. If parents want different, pay for it.
Tax payers $ leaving the public school system for a for private school is not good IMOhippiemom = goodness0 -
bootlegger10 said:I haven’t read the rulings, but to me a school is a school. I get one school may have a religious focus in some aspects (so science may be different), but on the whole I would guess the private religious schools provide a great education overall in line with non-religious based schools. To me this is not about separation of church and state but really is more of a question of why one school can get funding and another cannot. If a good school happens to be part of the catholic diocese, and can’t get vouchers like an equally good private school next door, then there is a question of whether there is religious freedom. You are punishing religion in this case.
I hate rulings on party lines like this. It makes me think that (on both sides) the law is not being evaluated but personal opinions and activism is involved.0 -

The whole idea creates increased costs for public schools by increasing the per student cost of infrastructure and other costs.Remember the Thomas Nine !! (10/02/2018)

The SCOTUS has become everything it was meant to combat. It is completely broken. The entire thing should be torn down, the justices dismissed, and the entire process of establishing it needs to be rewritten from scratch so that the SCOTUS is non-partisan, and the justices can actually make decisions they way they are sworn to. If that isn't done, the SCOTUS is just a contributor to America's scary decline.

I haven't really put any thought into that - haven't had time to read the details about it.My comment was a general one for the SCOTUS thread. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. It is a sad sad day for the United States.0

IMO, each presidential term should come with a Supreme Court nomination with some sort of safeguard that congress cannot simply block every attempt and they need to agree on something. Its appalling that a 1-term president who lost the popular vote was able to select 40% of the court and shape our laws long-term.0
