Anyone know if airlines / TSA allow it as a carry on? And if yes does it count as 1 of your 2 items?

    Let me count the ways I've brought them back home: In checked bags, threw them up in the overhead bins by themselves (they don't take up much space), in bags in the overhead bins, sticking out of a backpack put under the seat. 

    Haven't had any issues in any of the instances. Never had an issue getting them through security. Leave at the right time and there will be a handful of people with you in security lines with them.

    While I have put them in checked bags, I tend to be more comfortable having them with me.

    A fun game to play at the airport after a show is "Spot The Poster Tube".

    I think Southwest counts them as a separate carry on, but I've had no trouble tossing them in an overhead bin.
