I also suck.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0 -

I don’t mind it at all. However I never want it in a live set at a show I’m at. So now I’m unsure if I suck or not.0

lol.. Sirens is a pretty divisive song.I guess I suck. I don't think its the content I don't like. I think it's got too many layers to it. When it came out people said it was the new Black, but it doesn't seem nearly as raw to me as black. It also seems to be an energy suck at live shows.
I prefer the acoustic songs from backspacer. Love to hear those ones

Also not a fan of Sirens or Just Breath. Given a choice I would rather hear Sirens live so I guess i just kinda suck.

I agree with this. Thought it was fine when I first heard it, and then a little while later it was around for me in a time & place when I needed to hear it, but I certainly wouldn’t try to convince anyone else that they should like it if they don’t.nicknyr15 said:I don’t mind it at all. So now I’m unsure if I suck or not.As of now I’d say I can do without hearing it live ever again, but it’s probably more accurate to say that if I ever find myself hoping for it in a setlist, it probably means something pretty bad has happened.Camden 2 2006, Newark 2010, Barclays 2 2013, Central Park 2015, MSG 2 2016, Wrigley 1 2016, Rome 2018, Prague 2018, Asbury Park 2021, EV & Earthlings NYC 1 2022, MSG 2022, Louisville 2022, Dublin 2024, MSG 1 2024, MSG 2 20240 -
@mcgruff10 Definitely does not suck then0

I like when they play Sirens. I drink a lot of beer at shows and appreciate the opportunity to hit the bathroom.0

Just mean that it’s their attempt at a ballad. A sappy love song, presumably for the radio. You’re right it doesn’t musically sound like itTim Simmons said:I don't hear that comparison at all.0 -
FWIW, Steven Tyler/Joe Perry did not write "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing." The song was written by the industry Queen of Sappy Songwriting, Diane Warren, who has about a million hit songs that you know but just didn't know she wrote it.pledgeagrievance said:

Now if Diane Warren had written her own version of Sirens and given it to the band, Pearl Jam may have had their first #1 Billboard hit lol. I guess they will have to settle for a #2 hit, i.e., Last Kiss. If I never hear either of those again live, that would be OK with me :-:wink:0 -
According to Spotify, Sirens has been played 78 million times, by far the most from the Lightning Bolt album. That's a lot of suckage lol. I loved that tune first time I heard it and would LOVE to hear it live. STL baby!!

I'm a lucky man to count on both hands the ones I love.0 -
I love Sirens and would love to hear it live!0

My ticket buddy loves it. I think Ed struggles to sing it live, with the vocal range it requires.
I've seen quite a few Pearl Jam shows.0 -
I heard it's Ricky Ramone's fav song0

ThisJeBurkhardt said:I like the song and the sentiment of it. Yeah the lyrics are a little cheesy, but as I got bit older, they became pretty relatable. Being younger with less responsibility, but then getting married, having kids and now grandkids you start to spend more time contemplating what you have to lose, and being thankful for it.
I’ll be the queen of cheesy here and proudly admit Sirens is my wedding song - to my 2nd husband, who I first met in 94. We dated then, actually had a kid together (who’s now 26), split, married other people, both had 2 kids, divorced those people, and got back together in 2013, the year this came out.So.. full circle. It works for us
