It's kinda BS that pretty much anyone around here who didn't go to a Big 5 school just roots for Nova but I'd still rather them over Kansas or Duke or whoever. It's not Nova's fault that the other 4 teams suck. Well actually it is since they engineered the royal screwing over of Temple. But anyway...
I'd be willing to bet there are about as many Nova haters who didn't go to a Big 5 school as there are Nova fans. It's always the same story when Nova has this kind of success---are they a Philly team or aren't they? So dumb. The same people who say Kobe Bryant was a Philly guy and Mike Trout's a Philly guy dispute whether not Nova's a Philly school? Lol.

Also--didn't Temple originally turn the Big East down? Paterno was trying to form an East Coast super league around the same time and I thought Temple believed they'd do that instead. Then when that didn't work out they tried to get into the Big East years later and Nova did what they could to prevent it, obviously. If the shoe was on the other foot, I'd bet Temple would to the same thing.

I’ve never understood the notion that the fans of other schools in Philly should cheer for nova.   Duke doesn’t cheer for Carolina and Purdue doesn’t cheer for Indiana.

Talking about some imaginary Joe Paterno thing - yeah okay. I was kinda pulling for Villanova until I saw this post. Fine let that jerk from Duke win again.

I’m pretty shocked.  Even though I am a nova hater always respected the heck out if Jay.  Great guy and the best Big 5 coach ever.  He has had an incredible run.  Hope it’s not health and just thinks it’s time.

Greatest coach in the history of the city, for all sports...pro and college.

He looked tired this year but went out with his best coaching performance ever. Thanks for an amazing run, Jay.

Yeah i would agree with that. Only other coach that might come close would be Andy Reid, but he never won the big one for us.

Fred Shero won two cups so only one with the titles to match Jay.   Never thought I’d see a better Big 5 coach than Chaney but the titles give the edge to Jay. I think Chaney had a tougher road because college hoops in the 90s was hellacious since most guys hung around unlike these days.  But two titles and a total of four final fours is an amazing run for Jay.  Good luck to Neptune trying to follow that up.

    Therein lies the difference.

4 Final Fours and 2 championships...plus, other than his first few years and a couple years after the first Final Four, he basically had a team that could contend for a deep run every year for a two decade stretch. Just an unbelievable run, especially considering the shape the program was in when he took over.

Obviously my bias would pick Chaney but Jay Wright was a hell of a coach for sure. Hope he is happy whatever he's doing.

Today was the first time he has mentioned possibly be interested in coaching in NBA at some point.   Wonder if when Rivers gets fired after Sixers flame out if he would take that job so soon after leaving nova.

I think Brown is a really good "get" for St. Joe's.
