No he's not.  never led the majors in one category.  No MVP's.  No 3000 hits, nor 500 HR.

Hall of good if he gets in.

I mean, how is a guy like Matt Cain even on the ballot? Career 104-118 WL. Or R. A. Dickey with a120-118 career WL with a 4.04 ERA, if either gets one vote that person should be stripped of their voting privileges. Just silly.
What are we even doing here? A career losing record is worthy of consideration for the Hall of Fame?
These players have the required minimum service to be on the ballot.  Jarod Weaver and Krod are barely Halos HOFers let alone MLB HOFers, lol!

I said close. not a lock. There are players with similar numbers. But I doubt he get more than 25%. And it's not that far off from Scott Rolen and he got 63% of the vote. And how does Mark Teixeira barely get any votes?
All of these guys on that photo probably are off the ballot in their first year.

Rolen had a way better defensive career, ROY and his stats are no where near Beltrans.  WAR yes, hits and HR no.

I would pick Rolen over him for the defense but he doesn't get in.  Another player that has never led the league in any offensive category.

Beltran and Rodriguez are the only ones I would consider voting for. I probably wouldn't vote for them, but they would at least warrant a closer look at their careers and numbers.

matt cain got bad run support for his whole giants career. when other pichers lost 1-0, 2-1, etc. games, they would say the pitcher “got cained.” in 2011 he had a 2.88 ERA and went 12-11. ian kennedy had the exact same ERA that year and went 21-4. HOF, no, but better than his career record would have you believe.

Guy had 4 good (not great, not very good, just good) seasons. He's basically what we refer to as a journeyman. Decent #3 or 4 starter for a team.
    This weekend we rock Portland

Who said K rod should get better consideration?  He set the record for saves and never duplicated that season again, granted he went to the Mets, the place traded players and free agents go to die, but still never was even close to that magical year.

that guy pissed me off so much, against my giants in 2002. I doubt the halos would have won the WS without him.

I said I would look closer at his numbers, but still don't think he gets in. He and Beltran were the biggest number compilers on the list. I think he's something like 4th all time in saves and could see some writers that value big numbers give him a vote.

Isn't there some sort of veterans committee of players that can still vote him in? I might have this wrong, but I think I recall Curt Schilling going on a rant against the baseball writers, and noting that if someday he was voted in by the players, it'd be more of an honor anyway.

Yes, McGwire actually said that if he gets in he would like to be voted in by his piers.

That is how Gossage, Simmons and a few others got in.  Not from the writers.

Then there is a Veterans committee.  They voted in a lot of the forgotten and Negro leagues players.

They knew the new young voters were, mostly voting for players like Bonds , Clemens, etc. and probably would've been elected within the next 5 years the way their votes were going up. I think EVERY player that was already on the HOF Ballot should've been grand-fathered in and be allowed to be on the Ballot for 15 years, and the players who were eligible for the HOF  Ballot when they put the rule in(2014?) would be only allowed 10 years.

How long before the likes of Bonds and Clemons are eligible for that?

a writer suggested the giants bring bonds back for a day in order to restart his HOF clock. I like that idea. :triumph:
It was BS that the HOF reduced the limit to 10 years from 15 years on the Ballot. they could get in next year by the "today's game" committee...the membership of that committee is ever changing, so it's a crap shoot.

This coming December he is eligible for the "early era committee" which is the Todays Game group..  It's what the Veterans committee used to be called.
