I know her band is also her namesake, but I've always been a big fan of Melissa Auf der Maur's solo work. She's got 2 albums out, the first one had a few cowrites with Josh Homme, and her second (a concept record with a cd, movie, and comic book) had a rare duet with Glenn Danzig.

Yeah, also Mazzy Star, Beach House, Joan Jett/Blackhearts...
No Joan Jett.  No names of the person in the band or you'd have a ton more.

    Mazzy Star?  meh...
Sounds like someone who hasn't spun a Mazzy Star album all the way through.
    25 years ago yeah.
That's, like, all the music we talk about here...
I did mention the Yeah yeah yeahs.  Karen O rocks.  I listen to a bunch of newer bands.
Awesome band. I've also mentioned Heartless Bastards, Kills, Dead Weather....lots of great stuff out there.
Alabama Shakes (although I think it's just Brittany on her own now) and Florence and the Machine are both excellent as well.

I saw Florence open before Pearl Jam in Atlanta in 2012.  She was exceptional.  I was a fan, but boy did she have some super fans.  There were weeping high school and college girls all over the place.  It looked like a Beatles show in the mid-60s or Johnny Ray or something.
Yea, that was a good day. I enjoyed Garbage that day also.

Nice!  Didn't know you were there.  I think that was the Ludicrous day as well, where he spent the whole show telling us how he traveled the world and did this and did that.  It was a good set other than him, who I didn't think was all that great.

Foos the night before were great, especially brining Joan Jett up on stage as well.  I don't like festivals but hat was a good one.

Well it is best all time.  Newer groups can't have the throne just yet.

Glad the garbage was finally taken out. Was starting to reek in here.

Now to separate the contenders from the pretenders 👊

Lot of band names being thrown about. Some others I enjoy are Rough Trade (Carol Pope was a trailblazer), Belly, Siouxsie and the Banshees, L7, Concrete Blonde, 4 Non Blondes.

I don't mean every round. I'm talking about when the Weakest Link gods are smiting your ass.

Awful??  That's crazy talk.  Listen to Learning to Crawl to start.  That album is wonderful.  There's one 'meh' song on it, but otherwise fantastic.

Short careers though no?  Not a lot of staying power.

I didn’t say the should be added to the list. Just some female-fronted bands that I listen to and deserve a little recognition 👍

I do believe Siouxsie and the Banshees were around for 20 years… good band
