POLL - The WEAKEST LINK of FEMALE FRONTED BANDS - ROUND 4

Hope everyone is having fun with these WEAKEST LINK polls. With the new poll we will decide the best "Female Fronted Band". Now I decided to not include all girl bands like The Bangles or Go Go's, and wanted to stay away from bands with the singer's name in the band name like Blondie or Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.

So with this one I came up with 10 for us to debate about and choose from.

Disclaimer: I know there are thousands of great bands with female leads, I could not include them all and I want to be the first to say I am sorry for not including your favorite. These are just the ones that came to my mind.

Remember you are going to pick the band that you think is the "Weakest Link" after 2 days I remove the two (2) bands with the most votes. We will then move on to the Championship.

Thanks again for playing, and Happy Holidays!

Because I will vote for them. I bet they and Cranberries get knocked out this round, but the Cranberries have a decent catalog of good songs that I like.

Heart is definitely taking home the trophy.

I couldn't make it through a Eurythmics album.

I love the Cranberries the most but I'd have a hard time making an argument they are the best group here.

I think the Mac is the clear and obvious greatest female fronted band, but I get that there's an asterisk because there were multiple iterations of the group and Buckingham sang quite a bit, along with McVie and NIcks.  But their songwriting and craftmanship is unrivaled by anyone in this poll, and is up there with any group in rock history.  Rumours is a monster, right up there with Dark Side and Thriller.

Was Jefferson Airplane mentioned to why they weren't on here?  Grace Slick should fit that mold I thought?

I did think of them, but really just tried to keep the list more contemporary.

I think you chose well.  Besides, much as admire Grace Slick (both as a singer and as a music spokesperson with a wealth of knowledge on the subject), she was not an original member.  The band was founded by Marty Balin and Paul Kantner.  Grace Slick replaced their first female singer and both women were co-lead singers.

Alabama Shakes (although I think it's just Brittany on her own now) and Florence and the Machine are both excellent as well.

I saw Florence open before Pearl Jam in Atlanta in 2012.  She was exceptional.  I was a fan, but boy did she have some super fans.  There were weeping high school and college girls all over the place.  It looked like a Beatles show in the mid-60s or Johnny Ray or something.

I know her band is also her namesake, but I've always been a big fan of Melissa Auf der Maur's solo work. She's got 2 albums out, the first one had a few cowrites with Josh Homme, and her second (a concept record with a cd, movie, and comic book) had a rare duet with Glenn Danzig.

Nice!  Didn't know you were there.  I think that was the Ludicrous day as well, where he spent the whole show telling us how he traveled the world and did this and did that.  It was a good set other than him, who I didn't think was all that great.

Foos the night before were great, especially brining Joan Jett up on stage as well.  I don't like festivals but hat was a good one.

Lot of band names being thrown about. Some others I enjoy are Rough Trade (Carol Pope was a trailblazer), Belly, Siouxsie and the Banshees, L7, Concrete Blonde, 4 Non Blondes.
