Mid Life Crisis?

So I turned 40 last month and made the decision back in July I was going to get my first tattoo.  Is this a mid life crisis?  Does anyone else have an example of a mid life crisis?

I wish I was a sacrifice, but somehow still lived on.

47 and I recently left an executive position I could (and thought I would) retire from....started at another company as an exec that is about 10x bigger than the company I was with.  I know nothing of this field/industry.  Wanted more of a challenge.
Started running a few years ago and recently completed a 31 mile run (50K), damaging my leg and knee in the process.  Wanted more of a challenge.

My wife jokes it is my mid life crisis.  I tell her this is better than a fancy sports car and 23 year old girlfriend!

Would probably be smarter for me to get a tattoo, Chris.  :).   Hope you like yours!

  • Just turned 46.  I bought a road bike.  Still don't have any tattoos.  You don't put a bumper sticker on a Ferrari, lol.
I do find myself wanting to do more though.  There isn't anything wrong w that.

Just before my 40th birthday I decided to join a gym, never walked into one before. After about a year of kettlebell and metcon classes I decided to do a Spartan Race. I did the easiest one. A sprint 5k with 20 obstacles. And had so much fun doing it. Decided the next year I was gonna do the trifecta. One sprint 5 k 20 obstacles, one super 10k 25 obstacles and one beast 21k 30 obstacles. Complete all 3 in the year to complete the trifecta. But Covid screws that up. So I’m aiming for 2022. I’ll be 44
Only problem I have are my knees. I don’t have any cartilage left so long runs are not my friend. The races are spread throughout the year so I think I can do it.
This is me after the race. The smile on my face says it all lol

I consider some of these not as cliches (or, crises) but as personal challenges, whether of the body or mind/grit. It’s admirable, to me. Garners my respect.

    Awesome!
My sister did the trifecta, she's a damn beast.
(I can run more than her but can't do the other stuff!)

For me it’s the opposite. But with some good knee support I can do a little more then normal.

I'm not sure I ever had a midlife crisis but I had a personality crisis.  I got it while it was hot.  It's always hard to know when frustration and heartache what you got.

I love it, it came out as well as I could have hoped.  I was driving back to Milwaukee from Kansas City with my wife after July 4th and just said to her "I know what I want for my 40th." Getting a tattoo was always something I thought about doing, but never knew what I would get.  I love the No Code album artwork so much and figured it would be worth getting the background image.
