Let me first start by saying this is not my first thread on this song...

Why in god's name do they not play this song live?!!?!!?!?!?!

I think they have played it twice, EVER!

Holy crap, it is such a good tune!
C'mon guys, play it now...it is so fitting and such an amazing little tune!

As far as I'm concerned, this should be the new "Leash protest". Too good of a song to let stand by the wayside.

Concerning the subject matter of the song, you would think they would have played it more often in the past five years.

Or maybe that's exactly why they haven't played it. The subject matter is difficult, but I don't think any more so than Worldwide Suicide.

Such a weird juxtaposition of happy music and sad lyrics. If you stripped off the vocal track and just listened to the music, you'd never believe it was a song about a soldier.

    "The oath I took
    Not so seriously
    The world's gathered steam
    And caught up with me"

When I was graduating from high school and looking for college money, I actually stepped into the Air Force office, took the preliminary tests, and had them scouting me pretty seriously. It was nothign to me...just money for college and four years of work I would have been willing to do...it seemed safe. Glad I found money elsewhere....

i wouldn't mind seeing Las Soldier in the sets again. maybe it can replace Corduroy, Even Flow, Given To Fly or Small Town!

I have always loved this song. It's a fairly obscure PJ tune, so if your a musician you can easily play it at the local open mic and look like a genious! haha. Only thing about this song or the only recording i have heard is that Ed's horrendous harmonica playing needs to be fixed or just taken out all together.

yes...at Bridge School...I was at both of those shows...i thought then and still do that this sounds like an REM song. it's okay...I do like the chorus.

    ds
And no one sings me lullabyes
And no one makes me close my eyes
So I throw the windows wide
And call to you across the sky....

Yes, and I always mention here. THIS SONG FUCKING RULES!!! Pearl Jam is amazing in the fact that they could put 2 or 3 albums of unreleased shit and have it be killer albums. The Ten outtakes alone would end up making one of their best albums if they compiled them into one CD. Pearl Jam makes sure they try and make every song on the album worth listening to. Many bands just makes sure they get a few good songs.

how about puzzles and games, imho one of their best songs ever

Mike actually mentioned that he'd like to do this one live again, I think it was around the time of the U.S. leg of the avocado tour. He needs to bug Ed and make it happen.

Puzzles and Games is an early demo of Light Years, which I love They played Light Years the other day. I think Light Years is underrated. I also love In Hiding, which I think is underrated.

you and i are on the same page my friend

edit: i know wat puzzles and games is lol
